Have you ever wondereed if there are Sit to Stand Desks for children?

    Nope.

    • Maybe you have now? Lol

      • No. It's like knowing there are seven species of sea turtles. Useful to only a tiny percentage of the population.

I don't know if this is some fad or if there's some idea that this may improve the posture of kids… but knowing we - as humanity - have lived without this for many, many years, i fail to see the use.

        • +6

          Like your phone?

        • +3

          or electricity

        • There are seven species of Sea Turtles?

That's interesting, I thought there would have been more than that.

  • Are these a good price? What's the competition charging?

    • -1

We are the sole provider of these Desks for Australia. They're very popular in South Korea - normally delling for about $1000USD.

  • OP why does your product page have no reviews for this item please?

    • Hi PJC,

This is a new Product. We have imported some of these desks to test the market demand. If the demand is there, we intend to import some more.

      • +4

So when did you last sell this product for $900?

          • -1

            @Diji1: Diji,

Yes, we're new here, I get that. And yes, there sure are some dodgy people on the internet (I know I have been taken for a ride on occasion).

          Hi PJC,

As mentioned, we're imported some of these to test the market. This is why there aren't any reviews yet.

A part of this process is price discovery, of which this deal is a part of this exercise.

          • +2

@FlipItInnovations: Price discovery? Your above description has for 3½ hours falsely informed your fellow OzBargain Members this deal is 33% off a price you have never charged. That is misleading. Negging due to major issue with vendor.

  • +2

OP: Thanks for doing a good price and good luck.

But honestly, if anyone has kids sitting for hours on end AT HOME where you now feel the need that a standing desk will help, I have news for you! You're a terrible parent.

What kid, under 18 will honestly find themselves sat at a desk at home for periods longer than 2-3 hours and especially for days on end.

    • +4

Maybe those studying for their HSC. But then again… they'd be adult size.

      • +1

I had a VCe and now Uni student at home. After 6 hours at school, I wasn't worrying about 2-3 hours sat at a desk. Also made them go for walks, clear mind. Go out etc.

Just saying, $600 doesn't solve bad parenting 😂

        • +1

HSC exams are 3 hours long. Sitting a practice exam means they will probably be sitting for around 2 hours. It's not good or bad parenting if someone wants to study for this exam that helps them get into a uni course. Though I agree with the person above, they're adult size

You might be surprised, we have already been contacted by parents whose child has some back issues and their specialist has suggested a standing desk for the child.

For us, giving our son the opportunity to stand for a couple of hours when he's been sitting for long periods during the day is a good thing.

From a personal perspective, having spent more than 20 years in IT sitting down for long periods of time, developing the habit of standing more early on probably isn't a bad thing.

      • Parents contacted you regarding their child's back issues before or while you were discovering the price?

        • PJC,

Before, although we're still during the price discovery now (which is why we're posting here on Ozbargain with the limited first shipment of stock).

Once we became aware of the product and were discussing it with people, we became aware of that particular target market.

          • @FlipItInnovations: After 4 hours your desctiption still misleadingly informs your fellow OzBargain Members this deal is 33% off.

            • -2

@PJC: I disagree with you entirely.

This is a genuine 33% discount on the RRP price.

              • +1

                @FlipItInnovations:

This is a genuine 33% discount on the RRP price.

                That is not this …

A part of this process is price discovery, of which this deal is a part of this exercise.

… you are clearly not taking OzBargain seriously.

                • @PJC: Hi PJC,

I think I get where the misunderstanding comes from. Yes, this is a new product and we have brought a shipment into Australia to figure out the demand and viable price.

As the sole distributor and retailer of this product in Australia, the RRP was set at $900 on shipment.

This deal, shared here on Ozbargain is intended to help quantify the demand and pricepoint in this market.

This sale actually puts the price pretty close to the cost to us.

                  • @FlipItInnovations: What misunderstanding? We come here for bargains. Nobody here pays RRP.

                  • +2

@FlipItInnovations: Have you ever sold for $900? Was that for a reasonable amount of time?

    Shipping Flat rate: $440.00

    To metro NSW.

    Ridiculous.
Even in your own postcode area of your business (3180) it's $220 shipping.

And that is calculated, which doesn't match the statement on the right of your website.

    • Hi Martijn,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. This is a website error. We're updating the website settings now. I will post a new comment here as soon as it's fixed. Please be assured that Our shipping rates for our desks are:

Local Pickup from Pakenham : Free
      Victoria : $100+GST
      ACT/NSW/QLD/SA : $200+GST
      NT/TAS/WA : $300+GST

I have just updated the statement so the shipping prices include GST.

We're very sorry about this. It will be fixed soon

      • Correction,

We have removed the Tax on Shipping:

Local Pickup from Pakenham : Free
        Victoria : $100
        ACT/NSW/QLD/SA : $200
        NT/TAS/WA : $300

      • I understand transport is costly, but for me in NSW this works out to $800 delivered. I’m lucky enough to be pretty well off but there’s not a chance in hell I’d be pay that much for a kid’s desk that they will grow out of in a few years and probably destroy in the process. Especially when I can get a crappy but totally functional ikea desk for $100.

Good luck to you but I think this will be a very niche product.

        • Hi Vallani,

We understand. These desks are quite heavy and bulky to ship and this was the best deal we could find.

    • Hi Matrijn,

Please accept our apologies for the error. It was an error with the shipping classses.

This has been fixed and thank you once again for letting us know.

  • Saw an adult one similer to this in Costco for $400+( can't remember exact price) last week.

    • Yep, I saw them as well. What I found was the adult ones don't get low enough for children to be able to take the sitting position comfortably.

  • Hi OP,

Do you have a showroom in Melbourne for people to have a look? Thanks

    • Hi Siyuan,

We do have one of our other products - the FlipIt Maxim desk - in a showroom at Fitzroy, but not this product yet.

If you're ok with driving out to Pakenham, contact us [email protected], and we can arrange a time for you to see it in action on our premises. We can give you the full run down of the feature set in person.

  • +1

Do u have a youtube video on how it works

    • Hi OzzyOi,

We don't have a video for this one yet I am afraid.

If you message us, we would be happy to arrange a time over skype to give you the rundown

      • +1

Nah thats too much work. Thx anyways

        • No Problem. Thanks for your interest

  • I don't have an issue with you as a seller you actually seem pretty good, but be aware ozb'ers are right when they say it's illegal to say you're selling at a discount if you've not sold at $900. Even if it is a good price, technically its illegal. That gets people fired up around here

    • I understand this, however if you read my replies, at no time have I stated that there have been no sales of this product.

I am not about to display my sales figures because some people assume the worst

      • +1

I am not about to display my sales figures because some people assume the worst

No one is asking you to do that. All you needed to do is confirm that you have previously sold this at $900 (you’ve done that now) and that is was sold at $900 for a sufficient period of time so as to not appear as a misleading discount (which you haven’t).

  • +1

Why $599? Why not $5999999? Kids need the most expensive table you can make, I say sell it for $99999999.

  • +2

What kid is going to be spending long periods of time at a desk and would need this? And what parent is going to spend $600 on a kid's desk they will just outgrow in a year? You're out of your mind thinking this will sell.

  • +1

Negging deal due to potentially misleading pricing.

Asked the rep to confirm if the item had been sold for the “was” price for a sufficient time as per ACCC Guidelines about Misleading Pricing and the question has been ignored.

    • +1

30 hours and it still says 33% discount.

      • We have answered your questions and we think clearly and accurately. It's unfortunate you're persisting with this. We really can't help with this situation any further.

        • Your above description has for 57 hours falsely informed your fellow OzBargain Members this deal is 33% off a price you have never charged. That is misleading. Altering that to 33.333333% demonstrates you are not taking OzBargain seriously.
