Best enjoyed with a headphone amplifier, this semi-open headphone sounds more like a fully open headphone and doesn't exactly have amazing bass — bassheads will be dissapointed — but for those who want a more universal and flexible type of sound signature will enjoy the AKG M220.

These will make pretty decent gaming headphones, though not the best commuting headphones.

Rated 5 stars on Amazon.

There are some red flags about AKG since they got bought and moved manufacturing to China.

    • As a very happy owner of original AKGs, that’s very disappointing to read.

    • I've got the chinese version of the gold/black AKG 240s years back & paid something like ~$170 (I was unaware)

Anyway, fastforward 3 years and they're still working well - no issues with audio either. Tempted to buy this to have a backup

      • It's a more recent thing, I think. AKG Vienna only closed last year, Samsung only finalised it's purchase of Harman a few months before that.

Sadly the core engineering team of AKG went off and started an audio technology company (Austrian Audio) that doesn't make headphones anymore (great for them, sad for the world). But hopefully someone steps into the hole if AKG really does go down the toilet.

  • I think the Chinese k240 sound great

  • decent gaming headphones

    sound signature

So they’re not really studio headphones after all.

    • they don't have much bass to them & they're semi-open. I'd say its studio but perhaps not professional studio

  • Thanks OP. I wonder how long the delivery would take?

    • not sure but usually takes over a month
