    Is this the same product?

    https://www.visiondirect.com.au/contact-lenses/daily-disposa…

    It’s cheaper without the discount.

    • +1

The ones you’ve linked are not toric lenses for astigmatism.

Contacts for astigmatism are generally always more expensive.

      • i see. Never used it, just got confused. good to know. Thanks!

    • +1

This deal is for astigmatism type, generally more expensive

      • You do realise these things cost next to nothing to make. They shouldn't be sold for more then $80 at most XD

        • +4

Why don't you make them and sell it for $80?

          • @noone: luxottica owns 80 percent of the sunglasses going around, i wouldn't be surprised if they also owned that much of the contact lens market too.

          • @noone: Simply that I don't want to go through all the legal requirements/setting up shop. I just know like specs for example that you can buy them for $10-45 a pair yet a lot of people are paying upwards of $300 and more. I'm saying there are cheaper options with no differences.

            • @Splashtash: Specs have different designs and some people are willing to pay more for design.

Could you find me cheaper option for day toric lenses that is cheaper than the one posted by OP?

              • @noone: I could but not bothered to. That's why I haven't negged. sometimes I do the research and other times I don't. I just know this price is way up. Prob the reason there is no upvotes. I gave my opinion without much backing it up so I don't expect much of a decent response.
It ain't so much as the design that costs more. I can shop for specs super cheap and find many designs if not the same or similar. People are willing to pay more usually cause it's bought from Australia, trusted more/refunds are easier even though it's made in the same factory or from whatever other shop for various other reasons people will say as it makes them usually feel better. Probably also not the best wording. Anyway, this is a bargain website and don't think this is a good price from past experiences. The more they sell the more someone is making profit :) good for them.

  • Does the code work on other contact lenses? I don't have Astigmatism.

  • I use the 2 weeks version.
Daily ones are a waste IMO

    • They're more convenient and sanitary; most people that wear multi-day lenses tend to have suboptimal hygiene and tend to overwear them for too long. People are also much less likely to sleep in dailies. That being said, dailies have much less moisture and I can't use them for my dry eyes.

      • They are way too excey though. Specsvers nornaly have the fortnightliea for $50 for 1.5 months. Or $100 for 3 months.

        • Yeah that's the other problem. They're more manageable if you don't have astigmatism though. That being said, especially for younger kids, the price is likely still worth it when considering the health implications.

          • @algb3: Given that many people have worn contact lenses continuously for far longer than the recommended times (up to 2 to 3 years) without any problems I think the health risks are exaggerated to the point of extreme caution to avoid liability but also to magnify profits.

            • +1

@Rayve: I think the risk is inherently very low, but consequences can easily be very severe. Everyone has the right to make their own decisions based on the information obviously. In my opinion, wearing the lenses for longer if you're cleaning them properly is much less of an issue than neglecting to clean them and sleeping in them overnight. That being said, these types of lenses take that issue out of hand completely. Plus they're convenient.

              • @algb3: When I was younger, and perhaps more foolhardy I used to wear non-extended wear lenses for months at a time, sleeping in them every day. I had zero issues with vision or infections. The only time I had a problem was when the weather was so cold they froze to my cornea - the air temperature was down to -50C - otherwise decades of zero problems.

I've used contacts for about 18 years now. Went from yearly, to monthly, to fortnightly.
The Acuvue Oasys have been the best, no problems on computer screens, light winds, and change of temperature (snow).

You HAVE to rub (lightly) them before placing them for storage and before putting them on.
I would like to sleep with them, but my eyes don't tear enough overnight, that they become permanent contacts in the morning. Not to mention hygiene, potential loss etc..
I pay approx $120 for 6 months via OPSM/specsavers/clearly.com.au (whoever has a special when I need a refill).

  • $250 for 2 packs at Costco for members.
