Shucked two of these recently, confirm easy to do, and registering as model WD80EZAZ (Pity I missed out on the 15% deal)

    • Ye, I did that a while back.
The left over enclosure gizzards are useful although you have to do a bit of surgery first. I've a multitude of old 0.5 to 2TB drives that I use them on.

    • When you say "shucked" do you mean ripped out and used elsewhere? Would that have been in a NAS by any chance?

I'm setting up a secondary offsite NAS unit as a backup to my primary NAS and don't need REDs just reliable WDs. Any tips would be appreciated.

Same price at amazon if you have prime:

    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B01LQQHLGC

Cheapest I got one is $227 from Amazon but that was short lived

Also don't forget 10% cashrewards back

  • Can I ask a stupid question.

The new $1000 limit tax rubbish
If I imported say 7 of these, would I miss the $1000 limit thing, since I'm paying GST in the first place from NewEgg?

Like the $1000 doesn't exist anymore?
