    How long is the expiry?
I thought law was now 3 years but it says 12 months on the website?

The changes to australian laws surrounding gift cards come into effect on NOvember 2019, which is why it still says 12 months.

      • what are the changes?

      • +1

Effective from 31st March 2018 in NSW, all gift cards need to have 3 year expiry date. I suppose Event Cinemas could argue one of the many exceptions, but I don't think this is in the spirit of good customer service. Thanks grizz_li for posting the deal, but for this reason alone I will not buy.

        • I think event are not aware of this, they needed to be reminded, as it is compulsory.

The 3 year expiry rule doesn’t apply if the gift cards are discounted.

“A gift card or voucher sold for a particular good or service that is below the market value of the good or service (a genuine discount)”

Can I buy discounted movie tickets from NRMA then use this gift card to pay for the rest of the amount?

    • How do you buy them? If you are with Telstra you can through their rewards program.

    • +3

Yes you can. I have done that before.

Thanks. I always stack with Telstra Thanks for $10 tickets. 😎

    • Awesome deal. Getting a few Event cinema vouchers now

  • Can I buy novice vouchers using this gift card? I need some gold class for Xmas presents..

Thanks bought a gift card. It's annoying that you can't use your Cinebuzz rewards account to purchase the gift card though.

What do you mean? You'll earn points when you buy tickets.

Though, I have written multiple emails to Event Cinemas about improving Cinebuzz. There no incentive for Cinebuzz members to purchase food through their candy bar (forgetting their awful prices), nor do they reward 'VIP' customers. I've been one for years and there's no benefits unless you feel like free popcorn refills are exciting. A) you still need to buy the popcorn b) who'd leave halfway through a movie to get a top up C) who eats that much popcorn?

I usually buy my tickets from the box office because I don't like paying the silly online fees. Why not reward VIP's by allowing them to use the internet priority lane?

      Anyway…sorry for my rant…

      • I was just complaining about how I needed to create a separate account to buy the gift cards. I found that to be very redundant.

I agree with what you've said though :) I was looking up the VIP rewards today and I was quite disappointed.

      • I totally agree, They reward their customers with almost close to nothing, never once in my life I have had my bucket refilled with popcorn.

also I spend a lot of money watching movies with event, you assume when you have different tier levels with there membership cards you get more benefits, but everyone gets exactly the same offers as long as your a member, a slight increas in points for VIp, that’s not enough, considering how much money gets thrown at these guys.

Remember when they had half price cinebuzz points and $30 for $40 e-gift Cards also not to mention the Telstra thanks tickets use to give FULL cinebuzz points now it’s half, they no longer exist, that is why Hoyts are probably doing better as their system is more situated along the right Algorithm.

    • I asked them about this out of curiosity and they said the loyalty program and gift shop are completely different business functions. Makes sense when you think about it.

  • Any cashback websites can stack with these?

  • Thanks OP got $100 worth. Should be good till expiry date (dec 2019).

  • +1

OP you need to update expiry of deal to 5 Nov, eg. Hurry, this offer is only available between 26 October - 5 November 2018

    PSA:
On the Egift card email it says "Please allow 24 hours for your order to be activated prior to redemption."

  • The offer now has been extended change tittle as it still works
