How to Get eBay Plus Badge on My Listings Met All The Requirements

I really want to get a ebay plus badge on my ebay listings. I have been reading all the ebay guides and met all the requirements but don't get the badge.

I have been told repeatedly by ebay support it is selected automatically by the system not manually and not guaranteed.

I have seen many low feedback/sale volume accounts which have this badge.

I am basically down to the conclusion that it is either random or there is some hidden criteria to be met not officially announced.

I thought ill ask anybody here if they may have any inside knowledge or anything I missed.

This is my current setup:

Account over 1 year old 700+ feedback
around 10k+ of sales in 1 year span

0 negative feedback, top rated seller 0 cases against me 0 refunds etc

I set all my non bulky listings to:
same day handling
free express post + free combined shipping
60 day returns accepted paid by seller

all I get is the premium member/service badge but I want the ebay plus badge!

I just saw a 29 feedback seller who sells basketball cards have the badge and going by their feedback not even sure if they meet the $1k minimum in sales.

I just want the badge, I know it doesn't change anything but its shiny and im a big kid want it on my listings :(

  • I am of the view that eBay support is right (for once), in that there are no hard and fast rules to have listings tagged with the eBay Plus tag.

We have some 400+ items listed and probably only about half have the eBay Plus tag. There is no rhyme or reason as to how they have been differentiated. That is, some items of low value have the tag and some don't, some with free shipping have the tag and some don't, etc etc.

Suffice to say I don't believe the sellers profile has a bearing on what is selected.

I do know that inclusion in the program is fully automated and they are refining the inclusion criteria as time progresses.

When the Plus program was first introduced a few cunning sellers of unused Australian postage stamps were listing stamps with a face value of $100 for just $7.50, but charging $100 for postage. An eBay plus member would buy the stamps and then get an immediate refund of the $100 shipping costs!

    • And then were banned

  • interesting, I asked support if listing more items will increase my chance and they said no, which kind of doesn't make sense when I see sellers who have some but not all listings with the badge.
So looks like ill try listing more stuff and hope for the badge since its no listing fee weekend.
Also with your listings did the badge come up immediately or after a while?

  • +1

Some of the criteria for ebay plus are

    1 new items only
2 cannot be bulky items or too heavy (totally arbitrary that one)
    3 selling at fixed price
    4 returns accepted
5 above standard or too rated seller
    6 located in oz

However non listed criteria looks at your service to a customer. I think this is something that’s not easily measured and if automated then will require eBay to do lots of tweaks to get it right.

I have some ebay plus listings and in regards to service one thing I always do is contact the customer post sale to provide full details of tracking numbers and information about feedback and ratings and assistance.

Also for the ebay plus listings I have tracking is uploaded within 24 hours of purchase (doesn’t mean it has shipped as I normally allow 1-2 days for that.

Have been selling for about 8 years now and a long track record of resolving any disputes or issues to make customers happy when they are reasonable.

I haven’t been a top rated seller for a while although used to be for many years as I have cut down my sales. However a few listings have this.

So it may be the more salient things that you do to make the eBay plus badging.

However after all that it has not resulted in any greater sales. Also note that in some cases it’s a race to the bottom with pricing and I’m not going to discount my efforts to get a sale. I’m not the cheapest but also not the most expensive.

So focus on the reason you put the item on eBay in the first place. You want to make sales and do things at a decent return for your efforts. It doesn’t matter whether you have the eBay plus or not.

No different to decades ago life was “valued” more if you had a degree from uni. However the reality today is that there are lots of ways to make a good living (and money, which should not be the focus because money is a means to an end, not the end) rather than slaving away at uni and then slaving away in a job that demands a degree and having a reduced quality of life. For example doctors and lawyers were once considered to be the jobs to do if you could because you’d be reeling in the money. Now the pay rates have stalled and the hours are long and the work often stressful and arduous. You can make more money and a better lifestyle blogging and being paid, being an instagrammer, on youtube playing video games, or simply selling on eBay without even having to lift a finger to handle stock or post it out!

  • I actually posted a similar question a few weeks ago- Its been about 1 month since i got my Top rated seller status and these were some things i tried to get my ebay plus badge on some listings

I've also paid for a basic store package.
I had some listings that i allowed returns (30days)
I put in the weight of the items (all under 5kg)
Some listings i charged postage, but it was not some ridiculous amount. Some i allowed pick up, some i didn't.
I promoted the majority of my listings
I even tried replying to buyers feedback
I've had a couple of cases where i posted express to my buyers without charging them extra (simply because they needed the item)
I have over 100 listings as of Friday night (compared to a month ago when i only had about 70 items listed)

All of this took place in about 1 month. Last night, i qualified for ebay plus for about 20 items :)
Not sure which of the above triggered it but perseverance pays off

  • thank you this is good information, I will keep at it

  • eBay just published a new user agreement. For eBay Plus. it says:

    eBay Plus as a seller
eBay will display the "eBay Plus" logo on eligible listings based on criteria determined by eBay. Only sellers who comply with all eBay policies (including eBay's Selling practices policy) will qualify to have their listings display the "eBay Plus" logo. eBay does not guarantee that the eBay Plus logo will appear on your listing. By using the eBay services, sellers acknowledge and agree that eBay's decision as to which items the eBay Plus logo is displayed on is final. Sellers cannot opt out of eBay Plus or elect to not show the eBay Plus logo on their items.
eBay will be entitled to take necessary action against sellers who abuse the eBay Plus program or violate eBay's policies including, without limitation, recovering postage costs charged by sellers that exceed the actual postage cost for posting the item (being the amount charged by the carrier). eBay may include or remove sellers from eBay Plus participation at its absolute discretion.
You must not misrepresent the eBay Plus service as your own service (whether through direct hyperlink, advertising, promotions or any other means), nor advertise or promote the eBay Plus service in a manner not approved by eBay in writing.

  • Wow, I have just figured out how to create a listing in order to obtain an ebay plus badge!!!
It's quite tricky. Let me know if anyone is interested and I'll post here all specifics.

    • yes pls!

  • First, you need to accept returns. Then apart from free regular postage, add an express delivery option for $5.
Choose handling time 1 day. And the last very important one is to choose Package weight & dimensions; 5cm x 5cm x 8cm, weight 251-500gr. This worked for me. You will notice EbayPlus badge appear in the postage section of your new listing.
