  • Dan Murphy's doing cheap wine… Colour me surprised…

  • Sounds good, although worth noting that it is not available for instore pick up I believe.

dont mean to sound like a snob but why would anyone drink $5 wines?

    • For playing goon of fortune

Because we are lucky to live in a country where $5 buys you a drinkable wine.

    • So more expensive = better ?

    • because they would hate to be sprung drinking $4 wines

Cleanskins can sometimes yield excellent value.

However they more often than not yield excellent cooking wine.

    • I've had some great $6 cleanskins from Dan Murphy's in the past. The $2 ones are very ordinary however but still quite drinkable.

Price doesn't always denote quality wine. I've had $15 bottles of wine which I would rank lower than some $8 bottles. Similarly a $40 bottle isn't necessarily much better than $20 wine. I tried a 1996 Penfold's Grange at a wine tasting, and while it was very good wine, I saw no reason why it should cost more than $50 per bottle. It's all about the marketing and prestige.
