Using Macquarie Card in South Korea

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience using their Macquarie bank card (I have the everyday transaction account with no international fees) in South Korea.

If you have, did you experience bad exchange rates at the ATMs? Or did you get the MasterCard rate? I got the MasterCard rate in Japan at 7-11 ATMs and I assumed they'd have something similar.

Are there many fees? Should I just bring the majority of it in cash?

  • just came back from Seoul
Travelled with a Citibank and 28 degrees card (Sorry not a Macquarie Bank card)
Not really on topic but I had majority of my transactions (Shopping/Dining) on Card.
    Most places accept Credit Card.
I did withdrew some cash from a ATM but I hardly use them.

    • do you know what upside on 28deg over bankwest plat zero ?

      • Free Boingo wifi and flight delay cover enough for me to keep 28deg as a backup.

Bankwest better overall given much better service and free travel insurance if wanted one or the other.

  • When are you going? Im giving my family my macq card to use in SK in nov.

I heard its spot fx rate

    • I'm going on Friday. What do you mean Spot FX rate? Isn't it just the MC rate?
