What Is The Most Honest Thing(s) You Have Ever Done?

I am curious to know What is the most honest thing(s) my fellow OZBargainers' have ever done?

I'll start first with my recent experience: Couple of weeks ago the Coles checkout lady somehow missed that my gift card was declined and still let me go (approx $60 worth of grocery). I was fully confused, so double checked the receipt and it said I paid via Cash! So walked back to the information desk and went through all the hassles and paid the due amount after waiting for approx 20 mins.

Surprisingly this happened to me few times (I wonder why…) and I know I only did what was only right/normal thing to do… I also once returned mobile phone/wallet but that's another story.

Please Note: I have no other intentions but curiosity, as I am sure we 'bargain hunters' might have some negative reputations of finding bargains/deals by any means which might or might not be fully honest. So sharing this might give us temporary inner peace?

Thanks for sharing your experience.

  • Bought a large order of computer parts from a large australian retailer… found $800 worth of a product I asked for on the quote, but not in the final order… found them after leaving the store… brought them back :(

  • Not my own experience but a mate of mine just bought a iPhone XR from JB whilst signing up to the Telstra deal with a $200 gift card, the attendant who put it through after being handed it from the sales person was completely oblivious to the fact that he had to pay the remaining balance and gave him the phone in a bag. He decided to do the right thing and make her aware of the difference he had not paid which was over a grand.

Told my girlfriend how much weight she had gained when she asked me if she had gained weight……

    Big mistake

  • Use to live couple of doors down from Jelena Dokic…the tennis player… Found a wallet with aprox US$500 belonging to her dad Damir Dokic…which I have promptly returned to him …. He never said thank you and refused to greet with me ever since..turned his head away…

    Go figure..

    • I saw her training at the Fairfield tennis courts with Damir before she hit the big time.

  • Friend bought a P20 Pro off eBay from Singapore for $1.2k when it was first launched. The seller sent him two. He contacted the seller who asked for it to be returned. Posted it back, seller sent through the $40+ postage but didn't include the PayPal fees. Mentioned it to the seller but never heard back.

  • Everytime, I suggest people not to lie to your mom because she is the only one who gave birth to you.

As in.. we shouldn't lie to the OP's mom? She gave birth to me? Whoa!

  • There was this big rave about a Maths study help program and I signed up for a trial to prepare for my final exam. My exam was finished before the actual trial ended but I still didn't cancel it and paid for it as it genuinely helped me in preparing for the exam.

Now that felt really good to me.

A few years again, I found an ipod on a bench at a park. It had one of those passwords where you can type an infinite amount of characters in it. The wallpaper was eminem, so I was like why not. Typed in eminem and it worked! Did some hacking stuff and found his dad's email and went back and forth with the owner's father before we met up and I handed the ipod over. Luckily, his dad never questioned me about how I got past the lockscreen to find his email.

  • After going through the hassle of losing my phone recently, I now have a little blurb at the bottom of my lock screen background "if I am lost please call…etc".

If everyone did that I reckon the chance of getting a phone returned would sky rocket.

    • You can get apps that add info to the lock screen. Should redo mine.
