If it helps anyone, I bought one for the same price last week from Amazon, so with today’s cashback deals it might be worth buying from there

  • Im assuming I can pair this to the hue hub from Aldi's? (too lazy to google :P) - I would have assumed it would work but I did have to install the HUE app (lifx app didnt work???)

    • +2

LIFX run on a different system. Hue uses a hub/bridge system that controls the bulbs, LIFX uses a system where each bulb gets its own IP address and is individually-controlled.

    • never assume!

This will brighten up my day.

  • What’s better Lifx or Phillips?

Also anyone know the actual size of this bulb? After the length

    • Bayonet cap 105mm as best as I can measure a curved surface.

We have 10 LIFX globes and their RMA is excellent, replacing a dead bulb super quick after a bit of live chat/emails.

When we changed our light fixtures, wemo bulbs no longer fit and these were the only smart globes that would

      • I’m guessig the E27 are the same size too at 10.5cm

I’m looking for smart bulbs that are small in length so they don’t stick out of my downlights which are small in depth for some strange reason

I noticed the Phillips HUE are bigger then 10.5cm

Is the Lifx 10.5cm mini ones the smallest you can get?

        • Xiaomi have some that we’re small enough but they don’t come in bayonet, which is what our fittings are

        • LIXF make a downlight

Newbie Q….do they need some sort of smart adapter or switch? Or it can be simply plugged in normal bulb holder too?

    • Plug into normal Light Bulb Socket, and control via Mobile App over Wi-Fi.

    • +1

It depends on your socket. This bulb is E27 (screw) but some households use B22 (pin type). Regardless you can buy converters for like a dollar on eBay.

Kogan/Dick Smith sell the Day & Dusk version for $39. I got officeworks to price beat making it $37.05. So not much more if you want to adjust colour temp

  • Since they have WiFi built in etc, do they use more power when not in use then the Phillips HUE?
