Help finding bulk dehydrated mint peas

I’m having trouble finding dehydrated mint peas at Woolworths and Coles. They sometimes have tiny packets but I want a bulk lot, maybe a kilo or two. Anyone know where I can look?

Thanks.

Amazon 10 x 55g. Unfortunately, the 20% off pantry just expired.

    • Thanks, this might be my only option if I want that brand.

  • I just learned Coles and Woolworths have stopped supplying Continental Dried Minted Peas and I couldn’t find an alternative. They are now only available in NZ apparently.

I wonder what happened? There must be more to this.

Buy a food dehydrator (for about $30) and go to your hearts content

    • After DIY dehydrating is it possible to store the peas safely long term? Or will they go off quickly?

      • Yeah I wouldn't do it, you'd need preservatives and stuff. Last thing you want is Legionella or something

You and this guy should go in business

  • I’m now thinking of stocking up on unflavoured dried peas and mint essence powder, then combining when needed, but who sells the powder in Aus.? The one place I found was out of stock, and the other option was to order from Alibaba which I don’t want to do for a food product. Also I don’t want liquid mint essence because I want it stored dry.

I’m really wondering why local stocks of mint powder are quietly dissapearing. Did some high school kid sniff it or something?

And your grand plan for all these mint peas is what exactly? Lol why do you need to store bulk mint peas?!

      • They should store well past their use-by date if kept in a pantry and, if as I predict, international supply chains are disrupted and food variety becomes far duller, mint peas added to mashed potatoes will be a welcome touch to make an otherwise monotonous diet a bit more enjoyable on special occasions.

Mint peas and mashed potatos…? Are you (badly) preparing for the zombie apocalypse?

Doesn't sound like a balanced meal plan or 1 to live off for any period of time.

          • @spackbace: Its more like something you’d do for a treat, and mint peas are actually quite nice. No need for a zombie apocalypse to enjoy them :)

They are also light to carry in a pack and all you need is a source of clean boiling water.

But in the increasingly likely event of major conflict that disrupts supply chains to Australia, especially now that most of our fuel refineries have wisely been moved offshore to ensure maximum ease of disruption, then fuel and associated transport costs will skyrocket due to limited supply, and we’ll be all eating more local produce, if we can get it, which will likely mean a more monotonous and seasonally dependent diet. You’ll be thanking Mr PowerPants for your stock of dehydrated mint peas in that case.

Out of curiosity, what do you need them for?

    • They are tasty, convenient, compact, and should keep well for extended periods if stored correctly.

  • I’m wondering now if there is some constraint on supply of mint essence powder that is restricting the sale of dehydrated minted peas in Australia.

I may be able to buy regular dehydrated peas and then grow and dry supplies of mint in my garden.
