Bose QC35II - Weird Noise Reduction Issue

Hello,

I have the Bose QC 35 II's hooked up to my mac via bluetooth and all works very well except for this odd scenario.

Basically, I will turn the sound up fully on the headset (then turn it down two click of the button to not burn out the speakers). Then I will turn the overall volume down via my mac through the media keys. This enables me to listen to music at a fairly low volume ( i get distracted if the music is too high), but then if my jam comes on, because the headset volume is set near to max and the mac is set low, I have lots of room to crank the music and jam out.

The problem is that when I increase the volume on the headset, everything is ok until I press the volume down media key on my mac keyboard.

What ends up happening is that the volume through the headset basically drops to around 10% (a guess - it's pretty low though). I should note that this does NOT happen with the Yamaha desk speakers I have. Also I have tested this on the work laptop and it too displays the same behaviour.

I can turn the sound back up on my mac, but even if I do this, the volume that it reaches is not comparable to the volume it could reach if the headset volume just stayed at the near peak level.

Anyone else had something similar to this happen? I've got the latest firmware, searched the forums which say, un-pair and re-pair which I've tried and has not solved the issue.
