Transiting Kuala Lumpur International Airport 10 Hours - What to Do?

As the title states, I have a 10 hour stay at KLIA.
What are some things I can do inside the airport?

Thanks for all the suggestions in advance!

    Shopping and sleep…

Take the KLIA ekpress train into the city, have a look around, take some photos, get some Malaysian food, get back on the train and head back to the airport, catch flight out.

You not stay there looong time?

  • KLIA is a pretty crappy airport, can't really even think of anything to do there and I'm there a few times a month.

    • Damn that sucks… what about outside the airport? Anything nearby?
I'm pretty keen to get a taxi and go to see the petronas twin towers… worth it?

      • How old are you? The indoor theme park at Berjaya Times Square was interesting.

      • The airport is something like 80km out of the city.
Taxi will be over an hour, train about half an hour.

Twin Towers has to be booked in advance.

      • There is an outlet shopping mall just a short ride away at Sepang, with a free shuttle bus from KLIA. Shops don't open til after 10am though.

      • Take the KLIA train to KL and get down at putrajaya, tour around the area, check it out in Tripadvisor. This place is not too far from KLIA too, there used to be a 1 ringgit Best of Putrajaya tour running twice a day on weekends but I am not sure if that's still available.

    Get a nice massasse

  • 10 hours is a long wait, get the train into the city and eat!

  • Another +1 for the train to cetnral station. From there you can either catch one of the metro lines or cab / grab to the city center.

I've had a 12 hour layover at KLIA2 before (6am to 6pm). I booked a cheap day room at the Tune Hotel (~$30 AUD) to drop off my bags, then visited Batu Caves, went up the KL Tower, then back to the hotel for a nap and then went to the airport to check in for my next flight.

  • Immigration at Kuala Lumpur can be terrible. If you have a through booking then no need to go thru immigration twice, and the extra security screening, and if I had the choice then I wouldn't.
I would explore the Airport shops, eat there, and/or book 6 or 9 hours at Sama-Sama Express hotel.
Round trip taxi to town 3 hours. Plus time to do 2 x Immigration and Security. I wouldn't.

Agree with others. 10 hours is long enough to catch train to sentral, alight and take in Brickfields, chow down on banana leaf rice, get a cheap hair cut, buy a sari for the Mrs and head back. If time permits, go bowling at Nu Sentral or even watch a film. You'd be crazy to give up a day in town for a hard seat at KLIA. I've been to KL over 10 times and will keep going back.
