Great idea! I will try to buy uber giftcard from Coles and Casual dining giftcard from Woolworths

      • It totally worked… Spent all $50 Eastland cards to buy other gift cards.

  • Looking at T&C, there seems to be a limit of 1 bonus $10 gift card per person (check last page of PDF).

    • i think it's 4

An Eligible Person may only receive four (4) Gifts
irrespective of the amount of Eligible Entries.

      • yeah that's what I thought at first, but if you look at T&C pdf, it states one bonus per person. Would be happy to be proven wrong as I would try to hit eastland on my way to work on Thursday

        • I’ve re-read the T&C’s and the following clauses seem to state that it’s a maximum of 4 per person:

Eligible Persons may enter the Promotion a maximum of 4 times only during the Promotion Period.
An Eligible Person may only receive four (4) Gifts irrespective of the amount of Eligible Entries.

          • @melbourne guy: Enjoy a free gift card
It wouldn’t be Christmas without our gift to you.
Receive a $10 gift card* when you purchase a $50
Eastland gift card during our Christmas Shopping Event.
*Terms and conditions apply. One gift card per customer.
            Visit eastland.com.au for details.

  • so $200 = $40 free

There's likely to be a big line at 9am!

  • can you buy coles giftcards with eastland gift card

    • You should be fine, unless the Coles person at the checkout is a nazi for the rules. Usually they don’t care what payment method you use when buying a gift card.

  • Around 100 ppl in queue, they issue cards very slow, serve 5 customers within 10 min. Believe the free gift card will run out soon.

  • Warn to anyone would like to come. I am in the queue at 9am, there were 20 in front of me, I am still in queue as 9:37, still 5ppl in front. There are at least 150 ppl behind. Do not waste your time. Calculate how slow they did the job.

    • They are meant to be giving them out from 2 locations. I'm assuming the massive line was near H&M? What about in the basement near the Valet Parking?

      • +2

No power at upstairs so they sent every downstairs. I was lucky as I parked downstairs.

  • Why is it taking so long to issue gift cards? Do they not have pre-determined value ($20,30,50 etc) and needs manual set up?

    • If I was them, I would have prepped 2500 $50 cards and the 2500 $10 freebie cards before they started this whole thing so the process is as quick as possible.

      • They probably wasn’t expecting SUCH a huge crowd.

    • Each card is hand written with $50 and date of issue 15/11/2018.
They ask for name, suburb and email which are entered into a laptop.
That's why it is taking a bit of time.

Good job they were handing out cards for free coffee :)

      • How Long is the validity period? Guessing you’ve gotten yours- what was your waiting time?

        • Valid for 12 months.

          Waited for about 20-25 minutes.

Was lucky as I got there when they were setting up and we were probably amongst the first twenty (outside H&M).

          Good luck.

Should also mention we paid $206 (4x$1.50 card issuance fee) for $240's worth of gift cards.

          • @hubs1982: Nice- I waited for 2 hours in the end and could see that a lot of people were getting impatient!
The staff were kind enough handing out the free coffee card to appease the crowd, and the ladies at the counter were friendly though flustered with the queue that showed up!

  • Hugeeeeee lines right now. B1 line is shorter as of now.

  • Probably should mention that there is a $1.50 card issuance fee so total spend is $206 for $40

I would call that deceptive on Eastland's behalf, as there is no mention on any of the T&C's that this fee applies. So it's essentially only $34 of free money instead not $40 :(
Only place I could find mention of the fee is here: https://www.eastland.com.au/articles/guest-services, completely separate from all the other promotional material. I'll add it to the main post.

i was there and got my 4 cards at 10.45 and at that stage there was only 500 gift cards left, i would make this as expired now OP

there was at least 50-100 people upstairs and same downstairs.. some people will leave disappointed

thanks for letting us know, so that we don't waste time going there

  • I waited for 2 hrs in queue to get my hands on these cards… Totally worth it as I was able to buy gift cards from Coles.

    • So you got gift cards with a face value of $34 more than you paid. Then used them instead of 5% off discounted Coles gift cards losing $12. Profit of $22 for over 2 hrs of your time. Works out around $10/h.

      • I used $200 worth eastland cards and converted them into Uber gift cards (different accounts). So add another $40 in flybuys points (or I might convert them into velocity points due to 15% bonus).

        • You would have got the flybuys points no matter how you paid.

          • @JIMB0: True. Rather than using 5% coles egc, I used 16.67% eastland card.

    • good to you

  • Confirmed via Eastland Facebook that the free gift cards are all gone ☹️ https://www.facebook.com/eastlandshopping/photos/a.133379456…

  • Managed to get one of the last free gift cards just before 9pm. Waited about 45 mins but it was worth it. Staff were noticeably tired after a long day but the service was great.
