  • Best headphones ever.

I've actually been contemplating buying one myself since trying them out at the pop-up store.

Can those who own the Nuraphone + wear specs comment on the long-term comfort?

    • yes, long-term comfort will vary person-to-person,
but also, no point buying such expensive headphones and then listening to low quality MP3s over it.

the listening demo gets you to listen through Tidal or Spotify smart-phone apps,
but really, the true potential of these headphones are listening to FLAC or .WAV files

i just don't like having a smartphone pairing system for this headphones,
and wish the acoustic behaviour of such headphones could have been a stand-alone feature of the headphone itself
(e.g. store our own ear's profile into the headphone and then not having to rely on the smartphone/Application for music)

I visited one of their pop-up stores in Melbourne (the glen) and was told that it does store your profile and will continue to work over the 3.5mm cable if required. I believe if you don't have your smartphone you can't control the levels (ie: noise cancelling on/off, level of 'immersion', etc).

  • FYI for anyone that has 20% off from Spotify Student, it does not stack with the original deal above. Guess I'm being too ambitious lol

There's also a few pop up stores in Sydney. Tried them on in Chatswood Chase outside DJs and the staff mentioned that they were also in Bondi Junction and the City.

I was going to post this deal, but got beaten by it :-)

    • Amazing headphones. Really. The headphones build a 'sound profile' of your ears, and plays music satisfying your own ears' personality :-)
    • Battery life is great, at around 20+ hours
    • Nice noise-cancellation features, and a quick switch between 'quiet mode' and 'crowd mode' (where you can hear sounds around you)

    Some points to consider:
    - proprietary USB charging cable (however they are available in 3.5-mm stereo, Apple Lightning & Micro-USB for Android. these cables are not cheap either)
    - headphones are Bluetooth only & works with the Nura smart-phone app only
(even if you use the 3.5-mm stereo jack, the headphones still uses its own rechargeable battery to power the headphones)
    - headphones are a little on the heavy-side, so some may feel the "weight" more than others
    - there are in-ear plugs, which some may also find uncomfortable after long periods of wear (or even feel sweaty, from the humidity in the air)

    • There are a few listening locations in Melbourne & Sydney (see here for locations)

    • They have a 30 day free trial as well, so if you're not happy with the nuraphone you can get a full refund.

  • I tried these in the city the other day and have to say whilst the personalisation did sound cool, I found the mids got really congested. Admittedly not a good test environment but I'd definitely be trying a few other cans at this price first

    • I have this skepticism about the 'personalisation' too.
The 'neutral' sound just sounds too bland, and then the 'personalisation' is just the Nuraphones way of saving the listener?

The headphones are expensive, but that's also because it's first of its kind to market.

If Nura can keep their technology patented and secret, then they will maintain this AU$ 300 - 400 entry price,
as a differentiator to similar priced Bluetooth headphones from Bose, Sony, etc.

      • Only complaint I had was that they need to be able to allow manual adjustments to the personalisation in a 3D equaliser type setup. Right now, it does not allow you to change the settings and everything is expected to be automatic from the phone app,

Tried it today at the Sydney QVB pop up store. It's crazy and on another level compared to my Bose QC35. I haven't had anything come close in NC, Bass or quality.

    • I have Sennheiser & several Etymotic in-ear phones, and the Nuraphone is truly able to give my ears a revolutionary sound.

I don't always like Bose, but they have they their place in the market,
and so I was keen to find out how the Nuraphones compare to the Bose QC35 (which seem to be very popular)

  • The code isn't working

    • Expired at 7pm per the post description.

      • Damn it

        • I think you get 20% off via a referral as well. Could use one of the referrals above and give it a go.

          • @RyanMK: But the referrals do don't have free shipping. Maybe buy it at the pop up store and ask for a discount.
