eGlobal Central - Product in Listing Changed after Order via eBay

I ordered an iPhone XR A2108 (dual sim) from eGlobal Central AU via eBay in their singles day sale, primarily because the listing said no tax to pay/final price. Since ordering and paying, the listing has been changed to a pair of Jaybird X3 headphones. When I go in My eBay > Purchases, it shows up as headphones. Despite this, my order confirmation says that I ordered an iPhone XR. I’ve sent the store a message through eBay, I have yet to receive a reply. They haven’t shipped yet either, despite saying shipping would be 1 business day after payment. Do you think I should be concerned? Would I have a case to get a refund if they sent ~$75 headphones instead of a ~$1500 phone?

I don't think so, though I do wonder whats up, my guess is that theres probably fees for new adds, so people are circumventing it by just changing all the information instead of paying for a new list price?

Still though I find it interesting, I bought a video game from a random seller in china and same thing happened to me, went from N64 video game to Huawei screen protectors (I still got my video game in the mail though). So maybe its some weird change to do with ebay and editing a post?

    • From marquisite’s response below and further reading, it doesn’t appear to be a fee issue, rather a search ranking and number of sales issue. You’d think though they’d do it the other way around, sell a quantity of a cheaper item and the change the listing to an expensive item to boost its ranking, but who knows.

No reason to be concerned. This is a quirk with ebay's site. You should have an email from ebay with the subject "ORDER CONFIRMED: …" with evidence of the product you purchased.

You can also browse back to the ebay listing you purchased from where there should be a message that says "The listing below has been updated by the seller" with a link to view the item you actually bought.

Thank you. What a strange system, but that makes sense. I have the email confirmation, which is correct.

  • Didn't eGlobal shut down? This looks like an account trying to make profit off a good name.

    • They appear to have shut their .com.au Australian store but not their eBay store. I imagine this is because they’d have to register and collect GST themselves for their own store, but eBay do it on their behalf for their eBay store?
