Was looking at these entry-level drones as a X-mas present for myself and came across this. This controller increases the transmission range 2km. For a DJI drone with the controller/kit, the next up is a Fly More Combo with a few more accessories retailing around $759. This drone has decent reviews and has some cool hand gesture features, although not sure if they are gimmicky or if they really work. I believe the deal is also available from DJI website.
Other manufacturers are miles away for developed ecosystem and that first flight experience. Depends on what you are after!
There is always interest in them, but usually we all look on the usual banggood/aliexp/fpv sites anyway! And once you want a second racing or professional drone, they look less like bargains :)
Having said that, I'd consider posting the Mobula7 from xinte or banggood, which is an amazing 2s tinywhoopish styled quad at a really good price.
Dont buy it without the controller. WIFI from your mobile will ALWAYS be crap compared to what range youll get from a controller.

This has a controller, so you should be good to go. All you are really getting in the fly more combo is a case and extra battery.
I was actually thinking about this last night, is it worth buying the combo or just better to replace the parts if need be later on?

It's amazing how little these have come down in price over the last year. Surely the other manufacturers have caught up a bit. With way you certainly don't see as much interest in drones on this forum now.
