Damn RDR is so expensive still.

A better store of value than bitcoin.

Amazing game and well worth it if you haven't played the first one. Also remember it was never released on PC.

I actually think it's a decent deal. More so if you have an Xbox One X like me.
The X 4K enhancement is out of this world.

Also it's $19 preowned at EB and $15 at CEX but I'm sure most people would prefer the convenience of the digital download.

So if I buy for xbox360 it will still transfer to the xbox1 X ? What about if I also have a 360 on my MS account?

      • +1

FYI the $19 version at EB looks to be the GOTY edition which include undead nightmare - which looks like it is $9.95 on the digital store.

        • Pretty sure my copy was the plain vanilla RDR (picked up disc a few months back for $8) and when it downloaded back the XB1 back compat version digitally I think I had option of undead nightmare regardless.

If I'm wrongly recalling this, apologies in advance!

          • @fookos:

I think I had option of undead nightmare regardless.

No, that's only included in the GoTY Edition.

      • Flexing your Xbox One x I see.

      • +1

Excuse my ignorance but if I have the physical disc version of RDR 1 and I play it on my Xbox One X will it automatically install an enhancement or is the enhancement only available for the digital download?

Can someone please explain the appeal of RDR?

I've been a PC gamer for many years and was ticked off that it was console only.

Finally bought a One X and couldn't wait to play it, especially with all the great reviews.

Bought the GoTY version and couldn't wait to uninstall and sell it, what a borefest.

Some of the missions were so boring and annoying, like rounding up horses and cattle.

Don't get what the appeal is?

      • +2

I did the exact same thing. Also a PC gamer who wanted to see the hype so I bought it for 500. I agree the missions are pretty boring at the start but once you get settled and can visit valentine and other towns it gets pretty fun. Definitely not the experience I was hoping for though and I agree I'll probably sell it once I finish playing it.
Is it a good game? yes. Is it GOTY? No. Irate it 8/10.
In 2018 Kingdom Come Deliverance is still the best game I've played and still playing it, check it out.

Same for me. I'm kinda forcing myself to keep playing it until I start enjoying it but I'm not sure it'll ever happen. Just not my kind of game, I guess.

          • +1

@mj7312: I was expecting it to be my kind of game though - it looked perfect to me. Oh well, just another reason why you should never give in to the hype. It's still a damn good game. Just not top five for me personally. One thing I will admire and applaud rockstar for is how well they optimized it. The game looks so damn good on the One X. I don't know how they manage to make something look that good on a weak CPU and a med end GPU. Best looking game I've played by a longshot.

Hopefully the multiplayer will convince me to keep the game if not I'll sell it.

I don't think you did the exact same thing. Scab seems to be saying that they purchased the original Red Dead Redemption (due to the fact they mention they bought the GOTY version, and that they rounded up horses and cows which you do early in the game), whilst you seem to have brought Red Dead Redemption 2 (due to mentioning Valentine, which isn't really in the original game).

          • @Orinocho: ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh my bad
Everytime I see rdr I always assume it's rdr2 because it's just everywhere! I need to go to specsavers.
I think the guy who replied to me was talking about rdr2 too lol

The Lenny bar scene is 10/10.

          • @AustriaBargain: LMAO at that. Especially when Arthur was trying to look for Lenny the second time

It's called taste. It's not your cup of tea. You are in the minority though.

How long did you play it? With a lot of games, you have to invest some hours into it and then it just clicks. This was the case for me with the Doom reboot. I had to try 3 times until I finally got into it. It was a borefest for me at first.

        • Don’t think so. Many people have said it’s actually boring.
The reviews are overhyped etc. I also have it a few of my mates have it (rdr2) and as well as my siblings. All of us didn’t enjoy the game as much as the reviewers credited it for.

          • @maverickjohn: I'll say it again. It's called taste. I absolutely enjoyed the game, as did many others. If you particularly like the wild west setting, then you'll most definitely enjoy the game.

            • @manbearpig: I get that. But not sure if we are a minority per se. I’ve heard more people dislike it rather than like it. Maybe conjecture . I was just outlining that it may be more than you think. No malice intended

      • Appeal = Horsies

        • My little Pony has horsies.

      • It hasn't aged as well as other games. The controls are a little clunky, but it's a deliberate slow burn on the story. Act 1 is slow, 2 and 3 is quite action packed. The Prologue is what most people remember though.

I just replayed it on XbOne X and I loved it as much as the first time I played it on PS3. The graphics scale really well to 4K. Rockstar is well on the base game and Microsoft are doing a great job on the enhancements.

    • ^^ Perfect, Thanks mate! :)

Dante's Inferno is free because it is one of the 'Games with Gold' offerings for November.

    • Ah good pick-up mate, I haven't really been keeping tabs on the Games With Gold offerings lately.
I'll keep it in mind next time I post up.

  • Dante's Inferno for free seems good.
Is the game actually any good?

    • +2

Played it a few years ago, If you liked the God Of War games and hack n slash genre's, You'll enjoy this.
Very mature themed and not one for the kiddies if my memory serves me right.

      • +3

Yes, very mature content. You travel through Hell, and the visuals are really disturbing. The stuff of nightmares.

It's a Games with Gold title this month.

    • +1

      I remember liking it.

  • Full Spectrum Warrior, what a classic!
    👍

    • Yeah great game from what I remember.
I wonder how it stacks up now

  • Fallout: New Vegas

Shame it's not the ultimate edition, still decent deal.

    • It VERY often goes on sale for $5USD on steam though. Since it's an old game even people with old laptops and desktops could play it. Just saying you could save the money and spend it on a few frozen cokes.

      • +1

Don't really play PC anymore, too old and lazy.

Would rather relax on my lounge and play Xbox.

        • You can hook your PC up to any TV and also use any controller!

          • @Raynes: Yeah, my PC is connected via an in-wall HDMI cable.

  • I just bought Mirror's Edge. It'll be interesting to play it in 4K with HDR!

  • No lost odyssey? :(
