First post so plz go scooter easy on me!

Lime has finally arrived in Australia! They are running a trial in Brisbane this weekend and in good'ol OzBargain fashion, I did my research on some coupons code and stumbled over the Reddit ones which still seem to work.

It seems like Melbourne will be next on their list see here.

If you're in Sydney, you can also use LIMESYD (thanks to jason_ruz) and Brisbane folks use LIMEBRISSY (thanks to altitudinous).

    I got charged for a broken scooter that said it was fully charged and there app and customer support is useless and very glitchy. Just got a notification saying I left their riding zone and to come back. Wasn't even using a scooter

    I also got charged international fees for my ride. It says $10USD to recharge before I Can use the scooters. Is this showing up for anyone else?

    Hope this allows the laws to be relaxed to allow electric scooters and skateboards for everyone. Archaic laws.

      May have the opposite effect if people not used to these have accidents or cause accidents… There could be calls to legislate further & increase penalties on grounds of public safety.

    How are these legal?
    Are you supposed to ride on the footpath or road? 30km/h surely requires a helmet?

      When the placed them on the street, they had helmets.
      They get lost or stolen, summer is up. who is going to put on the helmet with other peoples sweat on it.

      These bikes are going to get the parts stolen.

      Batteries and the electric motors will be gone. They are worth a bit of money.

        Just watched a Youtube video that was linked in earlier comments.
        Lime are a unicorn startup company. The cost of the scooter is recouped in approx a fortnight, and repairs / theft occurs to only about 1% of the units!

    I hope this prompts NSW to make electric scooters legal here. They are basically unregisterable vehicles with massive fines if caught riding them in a public area (not just road or road related area).

    Lime eBikes are great for the inner city for short distances. Love the phone mounts and baskets as well, very clever! 5 mins comes to $2.50 (or $1.50 with the current promos) which is a fair price I think. Unlocking/hiring and locking is super quick. Have used Lime 5 times already over the past week. I do most of my grocery shopping on foot and happy to pay $2 when I can grab a carton of beer on special and bike it home.

    The app needs to be improved though. Weird references to £ and it’s hard to find out the per minute price. I thought it was 15c as in all the media coverage but it ends up being 30c/min.

      They’re very different services. I think the sweet spot for these eBikes is for trips under 10 mins (max $4.50) where grabbing one will be faster than waiting for a bus or Uber. There are a lot of shortcuts you can take on a bike in the inner city which means 10 mins can take you a long way.

    Is the free credit only useful for unlocking a bike? you still need to top up to ride the bike?

    If so, can the OP/mod update the description to include this … not really a freebie …

      Yes, no free ride!
      Each Code redemption comes as multiple $1 credit (Title states this) - so just pays to unlock scooter ($1).

      As soon as you unlock - you are charged…
      30c/min usage must be paid by credit or debit card.
      Can't unlock or use with out that "One last step" to add payment method to App!

      As some of these credits expire within days, need to get on your bike scooter quick!

        You need to be familiar with the Lime Bike pricing scheme to figure this out. I was just suggesting that OP point out the pricing scheme, otherwise it's a natural assumption that the 12 x $1 stack and you can get a couple of free rides.
