Apple Holiday Return Policy = free trials of Apple products

Apple's annual Holiday Return Policy just started. This enables you to buy any product from Apple now and return it up until January 6 2019 for a full refund, provided it is still in new condition.

https://www.apple.com/au/shop/help/returns_refund

"For products purchased from the Apple Online Store between 14 November 2018 and 25 December 2018, we will accept returns until 8 January 2019."

Applies to any products (not just Apple products, but excluding gift cars obviously) purchased from Apple's online store or Apple physical stores.

    Still in new condition….

I suppose that means it should be unopened and still in the box. Not a trial if you dont even power it on

    • No, you can open it, use it and return it. Just don't drop it.

      • yep, a guy at work buys new iphones every release and returns them after he plays with them for a couple of weeks (not sure why exactly he does it though). He even bought a drone from Apple, flew it (and he actually crashed it but lucky no damage) and returned it

        • is he doing a youtube review of the product or something

          • @jeeg: No he's spying on people in hotel bathrooms

  • buy it, use it, claim the GST, and return (if ur travelling between these days)

$12,126.99 Mac Pro here I come!

  • I think this is for returning Christmas Presents and not for use/demoing.
What are they going to do with a bunch of used products once returned? Surely not try pass it off as new.

I would never do it, but I do wonder where they end up. I assume they must have third parties they sell them to because hardly anything ever ends up on their refurb store.

    • faulty handset replacements, or sell on their refurbished site

they made so much profit something like that are nothing

Thats not how businesses work but maybe they make more from those who don't return it.
Still sounds more like an extended return period from 14 days to after Christmas similar to what EB games does.

Yeah Apple is short of cash

        • I'm pretty sure all the write downs are costed in to their products anyway, with balance being people who genuinely buy early presents with peace of mind.

      • I agree, I see this as free advertising for Apple. If it wasn’t profitable they wouldn’t do it at all.

  • It makes sense from Apple's perspective as they probably sell more than the cost of having this return policy, which is more of an incentive to shop with them. I think probably the same with the EB Games return policy.

  • I did this with the 10.5” lPad. Tried it and decided it wasn’t what I wanted at that time. No hassle returning it. I, assume, they use it for refurb replacement/sale.

    • Hmm….I wonder I should get the 11" ipad pro and try out to see if it is suitable for me…..

If you are near an Apple store go have a look at them; very impressive if you can cop the price.

  • Does this definitely apply to physical stores as well? I got an Apple store right outside my office and I need one by Friday

    • yes of course. actually i thought it is always physical stores.

      • i thought so too but the website specifically wrote 'Online store' so i was a bit doubtful. I wanna hang out to see what the Friday sale will be..

"For products purchased from the Apple Online Store between 14 November 2018 and 25 December 2018, we will accept returns until 8 January 2019"

        • if you have apple nearby then ask the staffs and report back here so Mod/OP can change the title:)
