TRS and Receipt from Officeworks

Hi,

I purchased a mobile receltny from officeworks. Receipt I received from them doesn't contain my name and address anything. It doesn't even has tax invoice number. There is only a number over barcode at the bottom. How can I claim TRS for this product?

Any idea?

Thanks in advance

  • Get them to reissue a tax invoice to you…and if the good are over $1000, it must include your name and address. You cannot claim the GST if you do not get a tax invoice. Whenever i have ordered stuff online and do not get a tax invoice, I am able to get one from them by requesting for one.

  • All Officeworks receipts are tax invoices. The invoice number is part of the number at the barcode on the bottom.

    • It's not a tax invoice unless it shows how much GST is paid, as well as the business details (ABN etc).

OP hasn't said it's missing any of those, only:

It doesn't even has tax invoice number

        And that's not a requirement.

100% this. OP, was the phone over $1000?

          • @tomsco: @tomsco: Thanks for all your response. It's $964. Receipt has ABN number but not tax invoice number

            • @PChinna: Then it's a complying tax invoice. You can use that for your TRS claim.

        • It shows GST and ABN details.

Fair enough, OP's description was a little ambiguous:

Receipt I received from them doesn't contain my name and address anything. It doesn't even has tax invoice number. There is only a number over barcode at the bottom.

          I took that verbatim, lol.

Did you advise Officeworks that you wanted an invoice for TRS purposes?

Perhaps their mind reading machine was turned off.

    • I didnt tell them. I will check once with their online support team.

I used to work at Officeworks. The receipts issued by the printers at the registers and online are all tax invoices.

    • I think so. I read same thing in their fb page. It wasn't very clear again.

      • So was the purchase under $1000? Do you still need anything else from OW?

  • What if phone is over $1000?
Would their normal receipt work for TRS?

    • If it costs over $1000 OW would add the buyers details at they comply with tax invoice requirements.

I think the fact OP hasn’t answered my last question means it was under $1000 and they just didn’t understand the requirements of a tax invoice and thus was TRS expect.

  • Hi Guys,

I have a question. I purchased new iPhone at officeworks for over $1000. I received receipt with no name and address on it. So I went back to the store for them to re-issue receipt for me. The guy put my iPhone as return on system and purchase again. He issued new receipt to me. After getting home I realised on new receipt it shows iPhone purchased n return. At bottom it says $0 charge n says GST free item. I Called Officeworks and manager says it should work for TRS purposes. You purchased iPhone, returned and repurchased it. But new receipt shows my name n address but $0 at bottom and says GST free item.

Question is will this new receipt work for TRS? I have kept previous receipt as well just in case.
