NBN HFC: HFC Install Technician 2month wait?? Is there Self Install?

Hi,

I ordered NBN HFC last week and my provider tells me that there is a HFC Technician shortage to connect the NBN Box!

I have a couple of Coax points in the house as well as an amplifier when i had Foxtel to 3 TVs. (they are all gone now)

Anyway, its not hard to screw in the bloody NBN Box and connect it to my router.

Is there any way to request self install? Cause waiting 2 months for some one to screw in my NBN Box is like waiting for some one to

Cheers.

  • When the tech's install the NBN HFC Box, they also connect a laptop up to it and do some configuration, Not sure what it is, but they just don't screw in a box and just walk out.

In theory you should be able to be mailed the modem and plug it in yourself.

Although I don't have NBN HFC to be sure, I have monopoly-for-no-reason-Telstra HFC until NBN checks that the HFC cable works when it already works. Guess who NBN contracts to check the cable before they turn it over to NBN so Telstra loses a bunch of money.

    Yep.

    Telstra.

  • i had Foxtel

    You're already serviced with HFC.

  • thanks,

Im happy to program it myself too!

Hopefully they eliminate the delays soon.

    Hey mate,
Former NBN HFC technician here, unfortunately you won't be able to do it yourself :/
The NBN endpoint requires configuration and activation on the NBN system.
Even though you have the coaxial connections inside your premises, they are not live.

    • thanks nootboli,

      i just read this.
