Isn't it generally a better time to buy things when the price is cheap?

      • +4

🙄 How hard can it be to catch a falling knife?

      • You reckon it hasn't bottomed out yet? Buy up then.

I bought 2k worth at 5850aud and hoping for a bounce to 7k+. In usd, 4200 was a significant zone for a bounce and whilst i think lower prices are possible, I'd be surprised if it didn't bounce back to at least 4800-5000usd before breaking down again and completing the descending triangle breakdown target of 3000usd :)

twocsies: surprisingly not that hard with good technical analysis and risk management. You may fail a couple of times, but that's what stop loss orders are for. If you want to start somewhere, try Tone Vays this guy made me thousands last year by following him and then I went to he's seminar and learnt TA for myself

FSTB: That's the spirit, this is ozbargains after all! When Bitcoin was well above 10,000usd It's insane the amount of people that said they wished btc was back at 5k or less so they could buy heaps yet now we are back here a year or so later, I don't any of see them running out to buy it lol. One of the biggest social phrases surrounding Bitcoin is "BUY THE DIP" and for good reason. It's amazing what fear does to people in a down market but I can assure you, Bitcoin has been through much worse in the 2014/15 bear market and it recovered and went 19x from its all time high price 2 yrs later in 2017. Bitcoin is still up about 400% if you bought in 18-24mths ago when it was around $1000usd, Good luck getting a 400% return in gold, oil or any other asset, even the smp500 and the nasdaq havent come close to it and they have been in a bull market for several years so I am not worried about Bitcoin and nobody else should be either imo.

          • @Tythefly86: I think it is scam. It has no intrinsic value and hence can fall to zero. It's never going to run again.

            • @freemoneyhunter:

              I think it is scam.

Each to their own, you may believe it is a scam, some other people have their uses for bitcoin and for them, cryptocurrency have value.
The intrinsic value comes from the amount of electricity used up to mine the bitcoins and the functions it is useful for.

I have no interest in trying to take out a 10-15 year loan to capitalize on people's emotions of the housing market.
Doesn't mean a house has no intrinsic value, the value of a house is the materials and time used to create it, as well as people's desire to purchase it for it's benefits.

I personally wouldn't purchase bitcoin because there is no way you can drive up it's value apart from HODL and try to influence the average perception that it's worth investing. There is a reason why Bitcoin exists, it essentially embodies all large unregulated electronic transactions. It's value is the "lost value" from regulated transactions.

Like illicit drugs. It's worth nothing to me because I have no interest in it, and thus it has no intrinsic value to me. It's a poison to the human body. However, the estimated street value (that the cops always quote when they find some), is the "lost value" to the blackmarket. It's not worth anything to the police financially, because.. they can't sell it.

Cashflow (money flowing in from income from normal business operations) + capital gains (people's thoughts about a company)

              • @cwongtech: If I was you I would exit all crypto investments, they will keep falling. I do like you, I remember many years ago I got a Windows 7 license code from you, you were very kind. I think what is going to happen next, people will realise crypto currency are not a substitute for the ultimate currency which is gold.

I have no crypto investments, I just tried to understand it :)

I do like you, I remember many years ago I got a Windows 7 license code from you, you were very kind.

Thanks! You have a very good memory, that was more than 5 years ago!

I have a way to access microsofthup program easily if you need it for office 2019 pro plus, although not much difference between 2016 if you already have.

I think what is going to happen next, people will realise crypto currency are not a substitute for the ultimate currency which is gold.

I believe the ultimate liquid currency is food and materials.. have you ever played Settlers of Catan?
Crypto currency and gold will not feed me immediately, they both rely on a trade of some sort to convert their market value into food.
Cash needs a store to switch it to something with real utility :)

                  • @cwongtech: I still use office 2010. No I havn't played Settlers of Catan but I will check it out. Food and Materials are barter items, unsuitable to use as currency or maybe could be used as some sort of ledger. Many societies in the past used precious metals….just saying.

                    • @freemoneyhunter: Depends on what your needs are, if it's to live, then food and shelter is priority one.
Currencies are used for counting value.
That is, once you have the luxury of no longer needing to worry about your next meal (primitive days)
Precious metals are only precious because we place value on its rarity and its utility.
Gold's utility to a normal consumer is really.. not much, apart from being shiny.
Industrial applications aren't exactly within arm's reach of a normal office worker who owns a bar of gold.
You can't eat it, you can't use it directly for anything in today's household as it's pure form.

They all depend on formal or informal exchanges to facilitate the trade between a lump of gold and currency to exchange for goods and services. :)

                      • @cwongtech: The best use for Bitcoin is a censorship resistant, unconfiscatable transfer of value. Next to that is it's like a finite resource and there will never be any inflation, in fact, your dollar whatever country it's from, loses value and purchasing power by the day as more of the shit gets printed. Back to it's best attribute though, see if the usa can put a sanction or tariffs on Bitcoin like they did with the Yen. Good luck with that… Anyone with half a brain will continue using Bitcoin and the government wouldn't have a clue.

Name another way that is easy to send 10 million dollars in value, hell even a billion dollars (try moving that in gold and paying for trucks, security, planes, etc) to someone across the world without any institution or 3rd party taking a cut, or possibility of confiscating or forcefully stopping your transfer. That's not to mention privacy, which there is none when you need permission to send value across the world (i.e bank/government). I find it hilarious that people who believed in Bitcoin now hate it because of the price, yet it is still the best performing asset over the last 2 years. 2 years ago today, it was under a thousand u.s dollars. At $3400usd today, that's more than a 300% gain. Show me the asset or stock that made over 300% gains in that time, and this doesnt mention that you could have gotten out at 19k, more than 1900% your money LOL. To anyone reading this, do not ignore the hedge fund managers and traders saying this could go to 100k. It can and most likely will especially when we get the next bear market in traditional assets and stocks.

          • @Tythefly86: The $10 worth of XBT from this "promo" is now worth $7.47.

            • -1

@crc32: I am a trader and I saw this coming, this is a direct quote from me in the above comments when we we're well above 3k:
"before breaking down again and completing the descending triangle breakdown target of 3000usd". This means I had a target of 3k lol
Why are you replying to me? I don't get it??

              • +1

@Tythefly86: Didn't mean to reply to you. I understand what a shit hot trader you are.

      • Someone's taking his post a bit too literally

  • This feature seems convenient:

Paying any Australian bill or Credit Card with Bitcoin

How would we find the conversion rate? Are there any additional fees? Is it possible to transfer BTC in?

      • +2

We have been generally much more competitive than Living Room. Recently though they did reduce their fees and are closer to our rates (we are still a bit cheaper!)

You can check the rates on the main website if you click the pay with BTC and than enter in say $1000 AUD for the bill it will give you the quote. You can do the same on LROS and see how we compare.

    Bull run back on?!
