  There are colour versions too (that change the backlight colour based on whats happening on the screen, if Lightpack 2 was out it's as easy as plugging inbetween on hdmi.

  These seem like an expensive led strip with an inline led control?

    The trick is the 6500K @ 95CRI quality - nothing else on the market is close to that. Coloured LEDs (or any light source behind the screen) will give you similar eye strain relief but to perceive enhanced contrast and colour the CIE D65 standard is considered the benchmark.
