"having originated over in Italy in 1989."

what does this mean ??? are these made in Italy ???

    • It means the company was started in Italy. The TVs themselves are made in China.

      • +3

The TVs themselves are made in China.

thanks, by reading your website, it can appear that these are made in Italy, otherwise why state where the company originated, and not where the TV is made ???

    From the Vivo website (http://www.vivotvs.com.au/):

VIVO is a premium mainstream television brand that has its headquarters in Sydney Australia and its own factory in Shenzhen, China.

VIVO Chief Executive, Fabio Grassia has lived and breathed audio visual and consumer electronic products for 25 years supplying resellers through his company Natcomp International, which was established in 1989.

In 2008, he created his dream brand VIVO – meaning ‘alive and vivid’ in Italian, the range is designed in Italy and manufactured in the VIVO factory in China.

      Premium ???

You really do nitpick absolutely everything don't you? O_O

In other news, pretty positive reviews on WP (and keep in mind people on there were paying $500~): http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1339702

Seems like a pretty good deal to me :)
I just bought the 40" Sanyo LCD from DSE for $534, wondering what would have been better..

You really do nitpick absolutely everything don't you?

Do you think VIVO is a premium brand like Sony and Panasonic ???

Personally, I've never heard of them before this thread, and i'd like to find out a bit more about them…

        • +1

JV, I wouldn't consider them a "premium" brand for the simple fact they don't have that brand name awareness those others do. However I far prefer my Vivo to the Panasonics & Samsungs I've viewed recently, and I'd say is of equivalent/similar image quality to the Sony Bravia. However this is in the 32" range.

Plasma TV's don't use LED backlighting, they don't use any backlighting!

The Plasma cells generate their own light, negating the need for the backlighting that LCD TV's use.

      • +4

Resulting in sharper colours and deeper blacks. Also allowing for faster refresh rates for better viewing of high speed content, e.g. sport and action movies.

        • -2

they do require darker rooms though… if you have a lot of light coming into the room, you'll get a much better picture with LCD…

also, there is absolutely no problem with viewing high speed content on most on the current LCD's… this was a problem a few years back, but not now…

      • He is however correct on the "only HD" part though. This model has a resolution of 1024 x 768 - sounds like old stock honestly. Any current 720p plasma should be using closer to 1280x720…

        Queue the stretchy pixels!!

  • DSE have the same brand model on sale for $444 delivered (i know still more expensive), however if you are looking for extended warranty 2 year warranty at dse is $119.95 vs eljo $199.00
And if you're very luck you maybe able to get a price match.

    • -1

DSE have the same brand model on sale for $444 delivered

yet apparently we are "still saving $419" according to this website ?

  • -1

Your website says I'm saving $419

When did you last sell these at $799 ?????

Even last year, i cannot find anything more expensive an $499 ????

Is anyone currently selling these at $799? If not, I fail to see how you can claim the $419 saving…

    • Hi JV,

The saving is based on the discount between our price and the RRP Price.

      • You CANNOT compare to the RRP price unless you were previously selling at the RRP.

        Learn the law FFS.

        • +1

You CANNOT compare to the RRP

Yes, definitely illegal to make such a claim under the Trade Practices Act…

          http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/815334

          • Comparisons with the recommended retail price (RRP)
          • If traders do not normally price their goods at the RRP, it may be misleading to give you the impression that they do
        • +2

its not "illegal" - its "misleading", two different things, learn to read or get a lawyer?

If you are completely stupid you might get confused and thing that your saving the whole RRP less special amount, but if you read carefully, you'll know its a saving based on RRP. At no point did anyone represent that the RRP was the seller's previous sale price - it is 100% clear the comparison is based on the RRP.

        • -1

Oh bazza, where do i start with your posts. No clue at all. It is illegal to mislead, not either! If you dont understand that, well i dont think i have a drill bit strong enough….

  • +2

Jmg146 - you do know you can't claim a 'saving' unless YOUR company has listed it for the higher price?

It's illegal - you can be charged. Consider this forewarning to get your act together and list them correctly.

Yes, I do work for Office of Fair Trading, and will now keep an eye on your advertising, and how you promote these 'savings'.

Please fix it up - lying to the consumer can get you into trouble. It has happened a LOT recently.

    • If you have concerns with the way we advertise our products, please contact our management on 1300 886 962. Thanks.

    • +4

      Hi Guys,

We were in no way trying to mislead you or anyone else, simply following common online practices of advertising savings on the RRP. We however decided, thanks to your feedback, to remove these from our website.

Kudo's to you for the feedback, we love improving things for our customers.

    • -1

31mop - you gotta be joking! I can literally pick up any old brochure I have lying around the house and it'll have a special where the saving is calculated based in RRP! If you work at the Office of Fair Trading I suggest you familiarise yourself with proper advertising practices and not be misleading and deceptive yourself in your "advice" to others.

Would love to have your name so I can report to relevant persons at Office of Fair Trading for representing that you work at the OFT and threatening with a "forewarning" without doing so in an official capacity (i.e. releasing your name and title).

      • Brochure example is irrelevant if the stores previously sold at rrp or was commonly sold at that price. Im sure he's worried.

      • @bazza236,

Did you actually read the links to the ACCC? Do you have anything to do with retail sales at all? There was a rather large issue just recently in relation to changes made re: this exact issue. A company is not allowed to advertise a saving based off a price they have never sold at.

I suggest that you stop spreading misinformation before you embarrass yourself further.

  • 16ms Response time? ARe you serious??? Should be around 3-5ms? No?

    • +1

      Hi Davo,
Since this listing was created, Vivo have improved the response time to 11ms. This has been reflected on our site.
Regarding what it 'should be', this number varies. In a top of the line Plasma, you would expect to see roughly what you have mentioned. This can fall away more than this Vivo, that's for sure. For the price, its' a positively reviewed TV, as indicated in a post above (http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1339702)

  • Sorry to sound like a novice, but im wondering if this can pick up the specific HD channels(mate, 1HD etc.) and if so, what kind of antenna I would need.

    • Hi Raz84,

With its' inbuilt HD Digital Tuner, this TV is capable of receiving all Freeview channels.

Most existing aerials will be ok to pick it up, but for more information on the coverage and reception, you can have a look at the below link to the government's Freeview page about this very issue.

  • damn site is down !

    plus +1 for deal

    • Unfortunately we have had some server issues whilst upgrading our hosting facilities, which has caused some unscheduled down time. Once we have sorted this out, we will be extending this deal for 24 an extra hours as it unfortunately went offline before the expiry time.

Thanks for the patience, we'll keep you posted.

  • Hey Guys,

Our site is having some technical difficulties today and we are working to get it back online ASAP.

If you do want to place an order you can do so (the old fashioned way) over the phone on 1300 886 962.

    Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

    Regards,

    ELJO

  • This is a very good tv for this price. I bought it around a year ago for 499$. I'm completely satisfied.
Always depends what you are looking for, but I recon this TV is going to work one really good for most of the people.

  • Whats the support like from Vivo? as in the past its been very difficult to get any after sales support when something goes wrong.

    • Hi Eskimo,
Vivo provide very good product support, with full service warranties and an available customer service team if you have issues setting the TV up. They have recently developed a new website (www.vivotvs.com.au) which has improved significantly their accessibility.
