It's an air fryer with an inbuilt rotisserie. My only interest in it is to use/mod it to roast coffee beans but it's supposed to be quite a decent unit for general air frying cooking with rotisserie and decent capacity. It's been on sale for around $109 so I think this is a good price.

No, nowhere near as good. This is basically just a fan-forced oven.

is it my imagination or are these "air fryers" just rebadged convection ovens ?
They have a fan at the top which pushes hot are down through the quartz heating elements. So to some extent they are like fan forced convection ovens, but due to their shape and how the food is placed, the air circulates around each food item (like the coffee beans) roasting them evenly without using liquid(oil) in the process.
They are mini convection ovens. You can cook anything that you normally cook in your regular convection oven. However due to the design, it cooks quicker and crispier. Not a low and slow cooking device. Great for meat pies and chiko rolls. Cheaper running cost than the average oven.
