    • Check the dates are within the stay period. I can see the discount on the rooms, can't comment on whether that equates to actual savings.

      • USD 3558 01 Feb to 08 Feb direct on hotel website versus AUD 4800 via Accor app with members special rate

For anyone not familiar with these Accor sales, while much have been said about them in the past, there is definitely, 'most of the time' a gap between true savings and advertised savings/discounts. In saying that, there is usually still a saving to be had but the % saved varies, especially if you are flexible with your hotel choice and at times the room type.

Interestingly, 10 days ago I booked a hotel for 3 nights in Singapore in Jan at a 30% off private sale. Of course all these sales say "up to xx% off" - which comes back to why you may need to be flexible regarding specific hotels and room type. For reference, the hotel I picked (being a second choice) with same dates etc comes out at the same price under this 40% sale as the previous 30% sale and the hotel isn't listed as a participating hotel in the current sale, yet Accor website applies the promo to this hotel. Having monitored the room prices over a couple of weeks prior to the previous sale, I believe in my case I received a true 30% saving off their cheapest pre-sale rate at the time.

Compare this to my first choice Accor hotel in Singers and I don't believe any saving is to be had at that particular hotel based on the cheapest going rate for the room type I was after prior to the sale/s. Both hotels are rated as being 5 stars.

Accor is really a love/hate relationship IMHO which I guess is why these sales don't get a lot of up votes. You also get 3% at cashrewards with Accor, but it is very, and I mean very hit and miss with the sale tracking.

    • That makes sense. I have been eyeing Mercure in Maldives for the last month. The over water villa I am interested in is usually $3000 for 5 nights + plane transfer ($360US pp). With the current special (non Accor Plus member) it's $2580. Nowhere near 40% off, more like 13% off but better than nothing as over water villas in Maldives usually start from $1k per night. $515 per night is a pretty good price for a resort that has excellent reviews.
