What is the nuraphone?

Firstly, it's important to point out that a person’s hearing is as unique as their face, fingerprint or voice. This is why everyone has their own opinions on the sound of a particular brand's headphone.

The nuraphone is a headphone that learns how you hear and adapts, automatically.

The learning process takes only about a minute by listening to the otoacoustic emission (wiki).

Once personalised, your profile is stored on the nuraphone delivering your perfect sound from any music source such as a smartphone, computer, home stereo, airplane seat, etc.

No more tedious research on the hundreds of headphone options out there to decide which is right for you.

Weird design

The design is neither an in-ear nor over-ear – it’s both.

The headphone splits the melodic sounds to an in-ear speaker, and low-tones to an over-ear driver that delivers the bass through your skin.

This also creates a dual sound isolation, meaning the nuraphones don’t let any noise in or leak any sound out.

Our ANC, which works differently to other headphones, provides noise cancellation through the ear cup speakers. This leaves the in-ear speakers free to capture your music's detail. The result is quieter listening and crisp, clear detail at the same time.

Anyone got their own feedback on this product? I haven't tried as there is none in Perth :/ Both curious and interested.

    • Seemed alright but sweaty ears was an issue after using it for about 20 mins. If u wanna connect it via USB C you gotta purchase a separate cable.

Very difficult to get a good fit. I tried at their booth. I reckon any slight movement would throw off the calibration and make it less effective. Sound seems pretty good but phones like Samsung have the ability to profile your left and right ear frequency sensitivity which would have a very similar effect with any headphones.

Personally a kickstarter backer and I absolutely love my pair. My friend did find it not really good fitting for them but for me it works.

Not a total audiophile but these are basically auto eq to tune to your ears (yes Samsung has them but that's a subjective test).

I'd give them an 8 or 9/10. Losing points mainly for the bloody proprietary cable. If I was fussy maybe a slight downside of the outer earcups as it does get warm but it's not too dissimilar from other closed cans.

  • If you could get the price down closer to $350 I bet you would shift a lot more units, needs to be more competitive

    • There are heaps of headphones built around the $500 price point. Of course, you could build headphones to a $350 price point with $350 quality (or in the case of Beats, $50 quality with the rest spent on marketing) but then perhaps no one would care because they wouldn't sound much better than anything else.

Yeah sure, but this is competing with the quality of WH1000XM3 / QCII (or potentially the IIIs when they drop), both which have hit sub $300.

Not in the league of higher end headphones that can be purchased at that price-point.

  • I'd be all over this if they sold replacement earpads.

Isn't this standard price if you click referral link?
Seems like advertising to me without a real bargain…

    • Referral link does not include free shipping.

  • Wife Bought one for me on Saturday.

Honestly. They are good enough but a little on the expensive side. Should have come with the usb to 3.5mm jack cable in the box. The cable is 25 bucks extra and that's what I think making me a bit uncomfortable. Sound is pretty good but can't beat my Blue Mo-Fi. Or maybe my ears are too spoiled by blue.

    • Audio quality is okay, but it's very limited in soundstage due to the earbuds, and the calibration/profile is probably the hardest thing to tune at first.

The 'in the front row' immersion is a 'feature' but it's also a problem when trying to relax or listen to ambient sound.

Speech, movies, no problems. I've taken mine on flights, trains, mowing the lawn, going through public transport is a breeze since you can tap the right to pause, and tap the left for passthrough to hear announcements and go back to podcasts, youtube, movies, TV episodes, etc. The benefit of wearing them in, is that they lose some of that 'clamping' force, and just settle without slipping out over time or becoming uncomfortable. (Yes, you can sleep with them, but it's not ideal.)

And, the update including the passthrough/outside sound helps a lot with general use.

You might need to check your phone has AptX or AAC audio out enabled, it's usually set at the most compatible codec, which is 160kbit SBC audio.

I had to go into the Settings to get AAC & AptX over Bluetooth on my S9+ instead of SBC, which is the default. Unfortunately the galaxy s9+ doesn't have AptX HD, so… eh.

  • Amazon.com.au had it at $375 in the cybermonday sale.
Cashrewards had 11% cashback for 4 hours today. - Good combo, got one, not sure what to do with it as have other headphones…
