Can't charge at all. There is no USB-C charging input socket. See u/FeZZa21 post below, that the one you want for charging at the same time.

Yes it should, I read a user review for a similar product on amazon that said they got 4k with their samsung.

Can i use this to connect my switch to my tv via hdmi without using the dock?
No, Switch is not 100% USB-C compliant and uses it's a slightly custom protocol to communicate with the dock, despite using a USB-C connector.
While it's generally fine to charge the Switch using any USB-C cable, powerbank or AC adaptor, third party dock replacements have been known to brick Switch consoles.

I tried this with note 9 as a cheap Dex adaptor, but max resolution it could do is 1080p, not 4k. Not sure if that because of a limitation with Samsung Dex though.
yes it'll work but as mentioned above, without PD it'll eat up the phone's battery pretty quickly.
do they work by converting to USB 3 port ?
You plug it into a USB C port and then you can connect USB A cables.

Has anyone seen or used something like this but instead of the video output being HDMI the video output is display port / mini display port ?
I have an old 2010 27" imac that has target display mode which I use as an external monitor for my laptop but the video must be display port or it does not work.
had mine from the first deal, might as well be the only one you ever need for most users.
other than no charging port, it is perfect for onthego due to its size.
i am sure the other popular variation of it is also the best choice for desktop setup, that one has charge port pass thurgh, means all you have to do it connect one usbc.
i recommand getting both of this. best bang for buck.

Got mine. HDMI works great with my Samsung S8, but does not seem to work on my Win10 laptop.
I got this, but why my macbook air is mot able to read my usb stick using this hub?
Just a head up. this has no USB-C PD pass through so you can't charge at the same time.
