Here's a sample email from back in June

  • I just visit The Register for a tech news roundup with silly headlines …

Isn't it UK? How's their nbn and aussie politics coverage?

      • +2

They have an Australian based writer. On Tuesday they covered the encryption bill and Telstra having to maintain their copper network longer. That's just the 2 Australian centric stories I remember reading from them. There may have been more that I missed.

        • theregister has surprisingly good AU relevance. though I also love thesizzle.

The Register often comes off very alarmist in my eyes. At times where I've known a lot about a topic that's made the tech news rounds, The Register's article on the subject is usually among the most sensationalist I see, if not the most.

I get that it's a "tabloid" or whatever. If that's your jam, cool. But The Sizzle feels a little different.

A great daily newsletter with a local Aussie slant. Anthony’s writing is great too. There’s also a new weekly Sizzle podcast.

    • Hey, I know you! Thanks :)

Not UK but the content is worth it and some. It is the kind of "No Bulldust" journalism I am happy to pay for.
We used to have a nicely brave and subversive rogues gallery of press organs in this country for at least a hundred years.
Somebody donated/sold those organs to who knows and killed off the body politic. This organ is still beating strong.

I am not now and never have been associated with this entity. I play with my own organs but I like to indulge in this one. Its great gonzo journalism. There should be many more like it.Sizzle is my sausage treat now and then.
And there are heaps of bargains in the site too. I just like pointing to good stories with subversive deals.

Thanks for eating my sausage mate.

    • ‘Gonzo journalism’?! Not sure how the author is inserting himself into the stories from the samples I’ve seen, which have actually been comprehensive article round-ups.

I think my pi-hole 3 month sub with the last sizzle deal was close to expiring, so good timing! and as molly would say "Do your self a favour!"

      Perfect timing :)

Been a subscriber to this for a few years now. Anthony's writing is great, plenty of interesting things to learn about that are not necessarily news and regarding the news, it's to the point and there's no bullshit.

    • Cheers, appreciate your subscription!

The Hustle is also good. And free

Also full of Silicon Valley wank. It's worth about the same as they charge in my opinion.

  • Will it still be $40 after one year?

    • The regular price is $50 a year, this is a special discount for Ozbargain's birthday.

  • Current subscriber. I enjoy Anthony's content. I am paying for a yearly subscription, I work in IT and find it relevant. Every issue there is always one or two stories that I haven't seen around the web yet and for the content I have seen Anthony gives a good breakdown of the situation.
