    • Sorry. Fixed up now.

Change title to include shipping. It's $76.90.

Even if I wanted THIS SPECIFIC HDD I'd much rather buy from one of many sites on staticice prices beginning at $68.20. You can either get it delivered, or NSW, QLD, VIC, SA, WA and ACT all have a place where you can pick up for under $72. Plus you'll get it before 1 petabyte becomes the norm.

I guess this could be an okay deal if you live in NT?

    • The place that sells it for 68.20 charges $11.50 to post say to Melbourne. So pointless pointing out a place that sells it for $1.75 cheaper but then charges $4.55 extra in postage.

And drive to a shop to save $4.90. How much time is that going to take, how long will you have to wait in the queue, will they have stock, how much petrol will you use if you are not in a metropolitan area of some distance away from the store?

That's all true, but it doesn't make this a bargain; the price is merely average.

        Are you a CoTD employee?

    • That doesn't negate my main point:
Plus you'll get it before 1 petabyte becomes the norm.

      • What is your main point?

        • Plus you'll get it before 1 petabyte becomes the norm.

        • Plus being a samaung, you can take it back for a refund when it dies. Without waiting.

There's also the fact that if something goes wrong with it or if it's DOA, you walk back into the shop and get it replaced. I don't know about you but I REALLY wouldn't want to be stuck dealing with COTD for a warranty claim.

Well that's an issue that everyone who purchases over the internet faces, and the facts are that more and more people are buying over the internet, and that trend will only continue to rise in the future. It's just comes down to your state of mind: is the glass half full or half empty.

No shit sherlock! I buy most things over the internet. However if I can get something for the same price in a B&M store as on COTD, there is absolutely NO CONTEST. Most on here would agree.

This. I don't know why so many people are negging you Ashlea. You are very correct.

      • +3

perceived attitude, id say, even though i agree with you too

        • Spot on. It's because I'm a bitch while being honest rather than sugar coating it.

Crap, misclicked, meant to neg. Can revoke + but can't neg now. :(

  • not portable as picture says and cotd says

    wrong answer cotd

    • see if there are better deals at static ice then…

JB has Seagate 1Tb externals for $79 at the moment. The extra $3 is more than worth it to not have to deal with Crap of the Day.

    • Haha, "Crap of the Day".

      You got my vote. :)

    • +1

JB are usually easy to negotiate with too so you might be able to drop the price from there.

      • This. Just went and picked one up for Mum, mentioned catch and without even asking they said "How's $70 sound?"

Posting COTD when the item isn't a bargain (and that seems to be the concensus which I agree with)… why?
I think it's pointless enough posting COTD stuff unless it's obviously an amazing deal.

    • Because COTD were advertising it as portable hdd, if it was it'd be a bargain. That's why

  • Been using COTD for years and found they used to have some decent deals in the past when they were one of the early birds in OZ Internet retail, but these days there are heaps of stores both online and retail that sells at same or similar price. As Ashlea and others point out you are better off buying from others where warranty and returns is not as imposing from buying from Crap Of The Day, unless it is really an outstanding deal!
Added to that I personally found they sunk to a new low for me…. bought some Arcosteel pots from COTD a couple of weeks back and they were CRAP, selling seconds with many dints on it as New item, not even bother disclosing it as seconds…..now, do I have time to send it back, probably not!

  • Must agree with Rasta.. Also COTD are rubbish when it comes to returns and warranty as I have experienced and so I will never purchase from them again..

    • ohhh shiiieeeet, you know someone is hardcore against cotd, when they have a youtube clip as evidence!!
