Free Shipping on Selected TV: Kogan 65" 4K LED TV (Series 8 JU8000) $749 Delivered @ Kogan

110
TVTREATS

The savings is in the free delivery.

a TV shipped to darwin is ~$100.
Bris is ~$60.

etc

Kogan 50" 4K LED TV (Series 8 JU8000) $389 delivered is decent.

It is recommended to use these TV with a sound bar/external speakers. many modern TV sacrifice speakers over screen.

anecdotal evidence suggests to avoid the "smart" TVs due to lag. personally, I'd never buy a smart TV as (A) you are at the whim of the manufacturer for updates, and (B) an android box is very cheap and easily upgrade-able /replaceable.

  • So there are 'android boxes' that can turn an old TV into a smart one? Can anyone provide any details?

    • I think JB sells minix neo. There are plenty other 'android boxes'. Alternative choices for making your tv smart would be to use chromecast, appletv and the likes.

    • vodafone tv

      • A computer/laptop

    • I believe the Mibox is one of the most popular ones here on OZB

      • Its rapidly losing its appeal since the oreo update

    • google chromecast

    • yes. I have a NEXBOX A95X which I bought 2 years for $30 delivered from HK. a basic entry level android box with 1gb ram. turns your TV into a giant android tablet. (minus the touchscreen). netflix, youtube, interwebz. etc. it can even handle MS Word

plug your portable HDD into it as well.

plenty of inexpensive boxes out there.

    • Nvidia Shield, Chromecast or Apple TV are your 3 best bets. Chromecast is the cheapest and is enough for 90% of users

      • Chromecast isn't standalone though.

    • Cheapie Android box @ eBay (AU stock). Remotes a bit clunky though.

If you're looking for something nicer to use as a daily, I suggest going for a Mi Box 3 @ eBay (AU stock & plug) or @ GearBest a bit cheaper (HK stock & EU plug)

Also, as mudguppy1 mentioned, Vodafone TV seems to be a popular option, and you can watch Free To Air on it as well if you have an existing antenna.

this running xbox and for foxtel 4k? worth it?

    • +2

I'd go for a TV that has HDR for the Xbox and Foxtel. For an extra $50 you can get the one which has HDR. https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-65-smart-hdr-4k-led-tv-se…

    • I would want to know what the input lag and processing time for any gaming on a TV. A lot of cheap TV's can have horrendous input lag, even after you turn all their extra processing stuff off

  • R u from darwin

Why isn't the JU8100 included in this deal Kogan. Gah.

    • The 50" is?

Is the JU8100 a reasonable TV?

      • The only difference is the JU8100 has HDR. The JU8000 does not have HDR. No deal for me on this one - might suck up the delivery costs and go for the 8100

        • Ah okay, panel is probably the same yada-yada?

Just in case you did miss it, I think the 50" JU8100 is $389 with free delivery?

I'm only tempted because I'm in Darwin and delivery charges are horrid…

          • @tellhimhesdreaming: Doesn't show as free shipping for me? Not in the TVTREATS deal at least.

They want to charge me $85 or delivery with a wall mount and sound bar.

            • @Wickadz: Weird, they included it in the email and it clearly has free shipping advertised there. Add it to the cart and give it a go?

              • @tellhimhesdreaming: Would love a screenshot of what you can see? the JU8000 is definitely in the free shipping list but i cannot see the JU8100.

                  • @tellhimhesdreaming: Fantastic - cheers for that. Going to give Kogan a call and use this to get some free shipping!
Definitely not showing up for me.

Edit* Kogan doesn't have a call centre so that might be tough to get the free shipping before the deals over.

@Wickadz: Let me know how you go! I'm still holding off for now because I actually don't need to spend almost $400 for the sake of a TV haha

                      • @tellhimhesdreaming: Any chance you can copy the hyperlink from the email - does it go directly to the TV or is it just a whole image pointing to Kogan?

I can understand about the new TV thing - i just bought a playstation in the black friday sales and realised that my little 28" is a struggle.

@Wickadz: No live chat either :/

I've sent Kogan an email with the screenshot. I'll post an update if I receive a response before the sale concludes.

No response yet, but free shipping now working as below!

Hi, I put an 8100 in the shopping basket and when it came time for shipping I used the code - TVTREATS but it seems that Shipster overrides the code so I received free shipping anyway. Could that be what is happening with others receiving free shipping?

    • Cheers. Just tested myself and also getting free shipping now!

    • Looks like they've added to the list. Enough for me to buy!

This was the difference between me not dropping & dropping $389 today. Well played Kogan, well played.

Now officially a member of the 4K(ish) club.
