  • Do exides cover most batteries?

    • Costco has a limited range but carry popular sizes from what I can recall.

    • yes. and you can also do special orders.. .this is always an awesome deal. jv wants a price though.

      • Great. I’ll go in!

  • first time poster.

Nope, they send it out every month.

    • More like a brochure.

    • where's the price?

Apparently this happens twice a year.

They're already well priced normally so 25% is great value.

    • This is excellent value. Their normal prices are already much better than sale prices at the auto stores.

Agreed, when I had to replace mine, Costco already had the cheapest prices for Exide batteries and I think they stock the range that’s above the lowest grade ones. With the additional discount, I would think they’re a steal 😀

    • They use too… but no longer. They are now bottom of the range (black tops) - source - used to work for Exide

  • How are they on warranty with car batteries?
What’s the standard warranty on them? Do Costco also cover with their own warranty?

    Are these batteries well known?

I’ve only ever used century or supercharge

    • Just bought one a month ago, 30 months in store warranty.

    • Exide and Century are pretty much on a par. Exide has been around for many decades. Try google.

Iirc Costco doesn't fit batteries if that's an issue for you.

    • Exide and Supercharge are the same company… same lead, same plastic, same acid made in the same factory.
Technically the owner is a company called RAMCO and they own practically 70% of the battery industry in Australia.

The batteries are good, no doubt there… but the ones from Costco are now bottom of the range. Generally speaking I would avoid these days…

      • You can buy different models. The standard is perfectly fine for a typical small car.

  • As I post in most battery threads that appear, let me know if anyone has any questions. Worked in the Battery game for 2.5 years and will answer any questions best I can with my knowledge.

To put it out there in re: to this deal. Exide use to supply blue top batteries to COSTCO. These were their mid range battery (damn good still trust me) and deal wise, they were excellent. Since then, they have now switched to sending blacktop batteries (as far as when I was there) and then put labels on with the 30 month warranty of a blue top. These batteries are lower quality and if you felt the weight difference between a blue top & black top, you would know there is less lead in them.

    • I heard Exude is being made in Philippines nowadays?

      • Yep, both Exide and Supercharge are made in the Phillipines.

    • Worth the money?

I’m assuming it’ll be cheaper than a supercharge one id end up getting.

30months warranty is the seller for me.

      • Generally speaking batteries rarely fail… Your battery will last long past the 30 month warranty they offer so warranties are nothing battery companies sell on. Trust me, I saw very little come back in comparison to the ones that went out.

What part of Australia are you from?

edit - Sydney right? Try Strathfield Car Audio - They sell Neuton Power batteries. Made in China, very good quality and the weight will tell you that straight away (if you fit it yourself).
I used to work for the company that produces / Import them (YHI POWER). They have a good warranty (on par with Exide, but as I said - we never saw returns) and are much cheaper than the big brand name alternatives (Century, Super Exidecharge etc). I solely run them in my car and rely on my battery very heavily for a upgraded sound system.

edit 2 - Also for anyone wanting to know, CCA (cranking amps) on the label of every battery I ever tested in the place was much higher than rated which is a good indicator of the quality of the battery also.

        • Neuton ones are cheaper than exide?
          Even with the 25%.

And yeah, I haven’t had one fail before warranty.
Only poor upkeep (storing a car).

So for me, cheapest battery with warranty works well.

          • @Owgasm: I am not sure if they are cheaper, they should be very close, but it's all about what you get for your money.

When Exide were supplying the blue top batteries, it was an amazing deal… but now they are supplying the black tops, they aren't worth the money you are spending even if they are cheap. If you buy a Neuton battery, you are getting a battery with more lead inside which is just generally a better battery for if not the same price, just a small amount more and it will last longer.

            • @Antecedence: $129.99 listed.
$97 purchase price for the MF66

              30months warranty.

The red top was $122 after discount.
              42months warranty
