  • Are Metabo and Hikoki batteries interchangeable?

    • No there not. Allthough some tools of theirs do share similarities because they are owned by the same parent company.

        Quit lying.

Anything that's Metabo HPT will fit Hikoki batteries.

Most things in stores are regular Metabo though so as MoPar says don't bother. Metabo HPT is more of a USA thing.

Metabo HPT batteries work with Hikoki.

Hikoki is not apart of the Cordless Alliance System (CAS).

This deal is for a Metabo CAS tool.

It's not Metabo HPT and therefore not interchangeable with Hikoki batteries.

The CAS alliance is awesome and it's what I invest in for quality tools (not just cheap Ozito).

          • @BestTechAdvisor: does Hikoki battery works on Metabo?

            • +1

@mhc: Hikoki does work with Metabo HPT.

Hikoki does not work with Metabo CAS.

This deal is for Metabo CAS.

I have some Metabo drill and Hikoki nail guns + router. They definitely are not interchangeable.

          • @z28: Hikoki batteries fit Metabo HPT. I have several tools between brands, the bonus being that you can buy Metabo HPT from Amazon to avoid the tool cartel pricing here.

            • +1

@Beef jerky time: Yes, Hikoki batteries fit Metabo HPT tool but Metabo in Australia does not bring in the HPT range. The HPT tools have to be imported.

        • This is Metabo, not Metabo HPT. Same company, different lines of tools. Metabo HPT is the advent of stupid marketing in America causing unnecessary confusion. Metabo HPT is known as Hikoki everywhere else. Thanks for the down vote.

MEtabo uses Cordless Alliance System batteries. Here are the CAS supported brands:

    bought one, thanks

    A very solid deal!

I don't really need one as chainsaw + reciporcating saw + loppers + secutaurs have me covered, plus I've already got 4 different battery systems. Not too keen to for a fifth; charging station is getting crowded! Did consider it though at that price.

If you can find a deal in your battery system I’d highly recommend.
I’ve got all the same other items but picked up the ozito one other week. First real test last weekend and this will replace 90% of them. Mostly small / med trees and this thing was so much easier and quicker, especially on the bin breakdown.

      • Good to know, thanks

  • This or a reciprocating saw for cutting branches?

    • +1

This will do better on larger branches for sure. Also less vibration than a recip saw. A bit more maintenance required as with any chainsaw, you'll need to keep chain lubed tensioned and sharp and periodically clean out sprockets etc.

    Thanks OP.

Just got it price beat at Bunnings for $179.20.

Keep in mind its not brushless and requires manual oiling after 20 cuts per the manual

  • I have been waiting for this to go on sale for a while now, it hardly does. As I was about to pull the trigger I realised its not brushless whereas some of cheaper no brand copies are. As I dont think I will use it often I thought I grab this one(at 1/4 price of the metabo), with promotions on the weekend I end up in paying $54.39(not brusless) and based on reviews support is good.

When it arrived, I can also use this adaptor (brought from ebay to convert metabo battery for my on handheld dyson DC59 vac .
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/315566077217. So it worked out very well. Now I just need to use it to see if it is as good as the reviews.
