upgrade? m50 is better than qc35 and wh1000, in terms of SQ.
The head strap and ear cover is super worn out and almost starting to tear

the M50's have a BT version out in the states. Not sure when they'll be stocked in Australia - could wait for that if you do like your m50.

I would go with this product rather than the 1000XM3 for home use. unless you need ANC, the M50xBT is probably the best out there based on the original M50x sound signature.

May suggest to replace the cover and cord?
I am not a audiophile but I am able to find my qc35 is obviousely inferior to m50x. I don't use qc35 unless on bus or train.
Find a long piece of dowel or something, wrap the cord around it, hit it with the hairdryer (not enough to melt), wait for it to cool.

bluetooth audio can never compete with wired, no matter how expensive.
*unless you have a Hi Res DAP (i.e. Sony walkman with Hi Res capable headphones - then there is an argument).
