Reminder for AmEx Amazon Prime Deal - switch to annual

For so many of us (500 votes and 5000 clicks) that took up the Amex Amazon Prime offer, note that time is running out to switch to the annual subscription.

I didn’t even start with the strategy of paying monthly then switching at the last minute, it seems to have just defaulted to monthly after the trial.

Hope this helps a few or many.

What’s the benefit of paying annually ?

    • When does your offer expire?

    • The point of the post is to be able to maximize your Amex / Amazon saving, particularly if you have two Amex cards.

      • can Prime annual payment split 2 or more cards?

        • No. Max savings was based on monthly fee until around now on one card and annual fee from now on the second card.

  • I want to take up this offer, but if i sign up now, will my Amex be charged straight away, or after my free month finishes (and the Amex offer has expired)?
    Any help greatly appreciated 😊

    • After the free month finishes, but if you change to annual during the free month there's a good chance it will immediately bill you.

      • It's not going to work. Free trial continues before the annual fee is charged.

Cheers, I completely forgot about that

  • My monthly trial ends 27 December. Does anyone know a way of triggering a payment without waiting for the 30 day free trial to expire?

I think someone said you can cancel while under the trial, then join again and since you’re not eligible for a trial it will charge straight away 👍

      • Thanks. The Amazon sure is confusing as if you try and cancel half way through a month, it gives the impression that your prime ceases immediately, but it actually continues to the end of the month.
I cancelled again today, so will try and rejoin tomorrow and see if it works.

  • Thanks for that! Mine was expiring today and just changed to my second card and annual, worked out really well.
