*DJ HERO TURNTABLE DOES NOT PLAY THIS VINYL

  • +11

It's not actual vinyl, its yellow plastic :( . Still cool and sounds alright none the less.

    • +1

Why do you say that? It looks like yellow vinyl. Plastic won't be suitable for play.

      • +5

Because I got one early :P

        • You sure it’s not coloured vinyl?

          • +4

@Yakuza85: I own vinyl records. It isn't vinyl. It genuinely feels like a plastic kids plate.

            • @ZacWinny: I have a 45 "vinyl" which is red and see-through, it has only one song, more of a really old commercial and that also is plasticky, I guess that's why its free

    • +15

Sounds like something I don't want to put under my 600 dollar needle.

      • +1

        my thoughts exactly

      • +1

        You in Melbourne?

        • Central coast NSW mate as per my profile

      • +1

Is the $600 subject to your usual hyperbole?

    • +7

Yeah no surprise, considering the turn-canvas-bag-into-a-trash-bag magic pulled by Bethesda.

    • You do understand that the term "vinyl" comes from polyvinyl chloride which is….. plastic, right?

      • You do know that language is contextual right?

    • Do you know how many each store got ?? Just hope theres enough to go around

    • Vinyl is a type of plastic. Shellac, on the hand hand, is natural, excreted by a bug.

"Vinyl is not a natural substance but is a synthetic man-made material. It is a type of plastic that is made from ethylene (found in crude oil) and chlorine (found in regular salt). When processed, both the substances are combined to form Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) resin, or as is commonly referred to - Vinyl. "

    • vinyl
      /ˈvʌɪn(ə)l/Submit
      noun
      1.
synthetic resin or plastic consisting of polyvinyl chloride or a related polymer, used for wallpapers and other covering materials and for gramophone records.

    • +2

Well it's certainly not going to be made of canvas…

    • It feels like any other record and plays perfectly well for me. Having said that, I'm not really digging the B side.

  • +21

At least something good came of Fallout 76

    • +4

That bad is it? I haven't got it yet as I'm too busy with Red Dead 2.

      • +9

It was a just a mess. I so badly wanted to play it. We had a good group of 6 of us playing, and it had a lot of potential. It just is an unfinished mess of a game that should have stayed in development for another year.If they keep supporting it, by the end of next year when you can buy it for $20 in a bargain bin, it will probably be worth getting.

        • +2

There wont be anyone to play with next year. This game is dead.

          • @virtualds: By the nature of the game though, that won't matter if you can get a few mates together, but yeah it's is probably not going to be anything in a year Bethesda will give it up.

            • +15

@gizmomelb: The haters who were initially looking forward to this game have very good reason to be absolutely disappointed with this abomination of a title from a company who are usually brilliant. And if you’re happy playing in your own words an ‘extend beta test’ that you parted with well earned cash for, then that just speaks a lot about you really…

            • +3

@gizmomelb: You must be oblivious to the problems this game has. A vast majority can see this game is nothing more than a copy paste job from FO4; nothing they promised is true.

                • +4

@[Deactivated]: I have both console and PC. Nice try though. Try to control your rage there champ you’re so defensive in this thread.

                  • -5

@[Deactivated]: a Leapers Learning Center isn't a PC. Have to be defensive when everyone else is being so offensive. I don't find rugby, AFL or soccer even remotely interesting - I've never spent any time complaining about how boring those games are in various threads. Yes we are all dissappointed it's not the game that Todd hyped it up to be, but if you don't like it.. move on to Battlefield V, or on to Just Cause 4, or Mutant Road Zero etc.etc.

                    • +3

                      @gizmomelb:

Have to be defensive when everyone else is being so offensive.

Get a grip, stop taking it so personally and attacking people for pointing out problems with this game which are self-evident and Bethesda has already apologised for. Makes you look like those frothing fanboys in N7 shirts defending the honour of Andromeda

              • @smartazz104: @smartazz104 - not oblivious, just on PC I have only encounter MINOR bugs except for a total of three CTS - and that is still less than I have encountered on some other AAA titles and still less than I encountered individually in Fallout 4, Skyrim, Oblivion, Morrowind, Daggerfall or Arena. The game is NOT what was promised, but I'm still enjoying it regardless.

                • +2

                  @gizmomelb:

and that is still less than I have encountered on some other AAA

Unfortunately that sums up gaming these days…

        • +1

This link sums up Fallout its pretty funny and well done

just head over to the reddit fallout 76 sub. i bought the game, played it every day, defended it every day knowing it was basically an alpha version of the game, so damn buggy you couldn't believe it. They just released a patch to fix bugs, and actually broke a shit load more things, now even the fan base that was defending (like me) are turning against them. its trash

        • I gave up after 5 pages of rage…ouch.

          • -6

@[Deactivated]: yes, the salt level is high as the COD multiplayer crowd don't like the gun or PVP mechanics and the Fallout franchise crowd mostly don't like the setting or that there are other people playing in the same 'game world' where they are usually the LONE HERO. In this game, unlike every single other Fallout game.. the HERO hasn't come to save he Vault Dwellers, Town Inhabitants, recover a water chip etc. The players are effectively the NPCs let out of the Vault and left to fend for themselves.

        • Is it more of a shit show than No Mans Sky?

      • -2

haters gonna hate.. I've been playing 3-5 hours every night since launch on PC and encountered 3 crashes. Console versions sound to be a lot less stable. I'm taking my time and enjoying the game, reading every note I find - listening to every tape. Amuses me to see players near level 200 cruising around the map.. enjoy those glitches to get to high level, where you have nothing to do but farm items because you ran past the main (early) game. It's not an MMO (it has some MORPG similarities) so why get to God status so soon, especially when they whine PVP is bad (thank goodness.. COD kiddies can fek right the way off). In case it's not clear, I've enjoyed every hour I've played so far and have been enjoying the atmosphere of locations and gameplay.

        • +7

          Todd is that you?

        • +2

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying your purchase.
The game was over-hyped, so naturally people are disappointed.
Just ignore them and keep playing. I liked Terminator Genesis and don't care what anyone says.

          • @idonotknowwhy: precisely my point.. people are raging because (HOW DARE THEY?!) some people are enjoying the game for what it is, thought they can see it could be a lot better.

            • @gizmomelb: stop defending the game, its (profanity) garbage, but fun garbage. dont get me wrong i enjoy the core game but its just so riddled with bugs that im not willing to deal with a million bugs to reach the fun anymore.

                • -1

@gizmomelb: When Bethesda apologists make excuses for 76, really makes you wonder what they won't abide.

            • +3

@gizmomelb: There wasn't any raging here until your comment "haters all fukk off". People have the right to hate the game, just like you have the right to enjoy it. Take a chill pill.

              • -5

@Ryballs: "This game is a mess..", "There wont be anyone to play with next year. This game is dead." both posted before my comments. Maybe not raging, but when that is all you read on whirlpool etc. you get sick of it, so I pre-empted the salty edge lords all jumping on the hate waggon. I remember similar hate comments regarding Fallout 4 (mostly from console players) because it WASN'T multi-player, the game was buggy and the shooting mechanics were terrible. Why buy more of the same and complain AGAIN about it.. oh yeah, 3 second goldfish memory.

      • +1

I have been playing it since release day. Its quite buggy and you can tell the dev team is being massively rushed. But the bugs are not massive, just little things. For example i logged in last night and my quests vanished, but i logged out and back in and they came back.

Honestly the game might as well be a single player as you dont need to do any interaction with other real world player if you choose not to. And as a single player game its not bad. Its just like FO4 without vats (as we know it) or NPCs (except for some hilarious robots) and with a bunch of bugs (which i think were fixed in yesterday's patch). The quests are kinda cool but the severely lacking in complexity and choice compared to previous fallouts. It is probably the worst fallout release to date, but still fun. Just disappointing i guess.

    • Fyi… The game is the result of several lawsuit's that took something like three years to get through. Not sure about if they had to restart development etc.

  • +2

Where’s the gamming desk? My local JB didn’t seem to have one.

    • +5

I googled gamming.. Urban Dictionary's meaning is first result :O

      • +1

Dictionary.com came up first for me. It when a group of whales assemble into a school. Didn’t know JB HI Fi could house whales.

      • …mind blown

  • +38

It says Vinyl but it's actually cheap nylon that Bethesda will end up having to replace for free.

    • +3

They’ll attempt to satisfy customers with a pitiful amount of in game currency first.

    • +2

They dont plan on doing anything about it

      • if you contact Bethesda, they're sending out canvas bags.

        • +2

Correct, and sending the proper bag to the people who bother contacting them is cheaper than sending those bags originally to everyone.

    • +1

      At least it's not cardboard

  • +26

Thought "Little Lies" by Fleetwood Mac was the new theme song for Fallout 76

    • lol

    • +1

      Poor Todd

    • +1

Normally you can forgive a game, like "Fallout 4" for having faults because it has a great story. A compelling story can always beat how a game looks. But "Fallout 76" is online and has very little in the way of a story and no npcs. When the a quest sends you to a person in the game, that person is dead (everytime) and you find a holotape instead.

They are relying on players to be nice to others in the game, then they add a broken player versus player to the mix and that just brings out the worst in people.

Right now there are exploints in the game being used to carry tons of junk and players like locust collecting every piece of junk on the servers. It is like a Hoarders simulator.

  • +2

Now they just need to give me a free turntable, and we'll be in business!

  • Oooh, this is pretty cool. I like to hang nerdy vinyl so this is definitely up my alley.

I don't know if I can get there due to work so if any Brisbaneites get one they don't need please let me know!

    • Open late on Thursdays I believe, so if you have time before 9pm

      • +2

They aren't giving them away until saturday sadly!

        • JB were supposed to put a pair of headphones I wanted on sale on the 23rd but jumped the gun and started selling them on discount by the 21st, so don't hold out all hope of JB failing to follow announced dates for things.

        • I know a worker there that already has one, so I am sure if you ask nicely you may get one. YMMV

    • They're available in MacArthur now.

  • +2

So they send out free records after screwing people on the bag?

    Bethesda are amazing.

    • -1

does anyone actually bother to read in detail anymore (no, I know the answer to that.. as reading is one of the main complaints about FO76).. ITS NOT (profanity) BETHESDA WHO ARE RELEASING THE GIVEAWAY.

      • +3

You make it sound like they have no involvement.

        "…we’ve teamed up with Bethesda"

        • -3

which is totally different to "they (Bethesda) send out free records after screwing people". The record is a promotional item jointly between Bethesda and Stack magazine to get people into JB's stores, where usually the people will buy something else while they are there.

    • +4

Step 1: Melt down plastic bags that should have been canvas…
      Step 2: Make 'record'
      Step 3: <profit>

      • maybe you shoud share those steps with the people complaining about the game.. they can melt down their game cases and make a record of them complaining and then play it on endless loop.

  • -1

Whats the quantity levels like per location?
Just so i know if i need to head in early.

  • Vinyl requires a firmware update as the first chorus loops.

    • +2

I heard the vinyl clips out of the record player

  • Does the Magazine itself have a cost?

    • +2

nope. free. I still have a couple of the Stack magazines with the Fallout 4 pull out poster in them.

      • Thanks!

    • No it doesn't

  • +2

I always thought Country Roads did not fit in with the usual retro Fallout tunes. It's about 20 years too 'new' relative to all the other songs in the game. It'd be like having the wasteland radio filled with CCR. Great to listen to, but not really matching the theme.

  • +1

    You mean Country Roads, right?

  • Should have been America's national anthem. Stars spangled is amazing when done right but too damn hard to sing.
