I Was Charged for Onroad Cost (Rego, CTP, Stamp Duty) Although It Was Advertised for Driveway Price

Hi all,
I need a suggestion from Ozb community.

I bought a car in feb 2018. It was advertised (all rego and ctp included) for 24,999 driveway.
and then the finance was arranged. I thought that they have charged me correctly coz the sales rep sounded genuine.
But, now today, when I was looking the cars tax invoice and loan amount, I saw it to be too high. And I checked the details, it comes out they have charged me for the onroad costs.

What can I do, the sales rep is not willing to help and gives generic answers like it must be included in invoice and I must pay for it to drive away.

What can I do so that I am refunded for the extra money they charged to me.

Is there anyway I can get the ad published on 2018 feb, as I contacted Honda company aswell for the advertisement copy. They told me they dont have it and cant help me further.

please suggest me what I can do to get that money refunded.

edit:Acc to everybody here, it turns out I was robbed. learnt the lesson hard way.

Ok? They have no obligation to go retrieve it and/or give a copy to OP.

  • But did you get to drive it away?

The strangest thing about this is that you actually paid the advertised price for a car.

    • The price was negotiated with the OP asking for the "Best Price" Unfortunately it was the "Best Price" only for sales rep.

  • not sure what op is on about. car salesmen are among the most noble professions

Yep right up there with lawyers and people calling from windows technical support/ATO marshal

  • I find this weird. Honda usually sell the car at drive away price.

You signed the contract and it's been 8 months. You won't be getting any compensation from ground support.

If you must pursue this, you'll need to talk to complaints/customer relations or find a way to get in touch with people higher up and turn this into a bigger deal than it really is and hope they will do something out of good will.

Buying a car is exciting. Take your time and double check everything next time.

What car is it? I was looking to buy a Honda back in Feb maybe I remember the driveway price?

    Read carefully before signing.

Look out for lions while going through the forest.

They probably had the asterisk on the ad but often human memory only wants to remember what it chooses to.

    Always be ready.

  • This is some serious accusation on the car dealership/sales person or some serious buyer negligent here.

I am not even saying the OP is lying but OP needs to ask himself why oh why did it come to this.

I think someone had already said this. Check the drive-away price on the same vehicle with the same specs at the same time and see how much extra OP had paid.

Take it on the chin as an expensive lesson.

    • Read your contracts BEFORE sign / pay

Given OP's terrible english skills I would suggest they've misinterpreted the ad "$24,990 plus on road costs" as including.

    • It was driveaway price for the base model.

February 2018 is almost a year ago.

I think OP has left it a bit late.

    And how to prove anything?

Lesseon learnt - ALWAYS CHECK THE DETAILS!

If you paid advertised price you already paid too much lol

  • The advertised drive-away price would have definitely been for the very basic model

  • Was it a Honda Civic VTI? what was advertised for that price around that time. Don't you have a copy of the paperwork you signed when buying the car? It should have the amount on it.

What colour did you get? Maybe the difference is for the colour or any accessories?

  • It's already 2018. The reps would have put something in their computer

    :driveway sale
    :advertised on newspaper

Yet Honda can't even go back to check it whether it's a final price or more to add on.

  • Was this your first car purchase ever? It is common sense to read before you sign.

  • if you did not read the contract before you signed it,what more can you say
