Must be good, my little brother has spent over 700 hours playing it according to his Nintendo profile.

    • Switch shows hours played now? I always had to use the parental controls to find that out.

  • +2

pretty good game, but too bad that you can't play with friends on the same console.

    • Yeah I bought it fro my daughter. It said multiplayer on the back of the box and yet that only meant online. THe original had a multiplayer mode, thought this would be the same.

  • +2

Is this only really worth it if you have the subscription service for online play?

    • +1

Yeah, single player is really just training for online.

    • I'm only new to Switch, do you really need that online subscription to play multiplayer? Like Xbox Good many years ago was required to play multiplayer…

      • +1

Yes. Like Xbox Live you don't need it for some free to play games like Warframe

It's much cheaper ($30 AU a year?) but Nintendo online is shocking.

      • +1

pretty much, only certain games you don't need subscription to play online, but the only game I know is Fortnite. Having said that if you get a family plan with friends it's a lot cheaper than xbox or ps subscription.

      • If you've got some friends, family and acquaintances you trust and are willing to chip in a few dollars each, you can set up a family group of up to 8 accounts (the "admin" account only needs the email addresses of the other members, so you don't have to worry about giving out passwords) and get the Switch Online family subscription.

AUD $54.95 split between 8 people means that everybody in the group gets a year's subscription for ~$6.87 each, rather than $19.99 each for individual subscriptions.

Or better yet, if the admin account is set to US region, USD $34.99 for a family subscription at current rates is AUD $48.58, or $6.07 each.

    • Yep. The single player is there and is challenging. But the main part of the game is the pvp which requires the 30 dollar a year Nintendo online subscription.

  • When had it been cheaper?

    • There's been a few deals in the history if you search it.

From Kogan for $19 + Delivery, back in February.

It’s a great game, and can be quite addictive. I’ve clocked up 300+ hours on it.

The single player campaign is good fun, and there’s the octo expansion for the single player campaign which from memory is about $30 from the Nintendo store.

  • It's good price. But I can not play that kind of game. Sad on me.

Really wish it had local multiplayer

yearly online subscription fee for online playering is a big con for this game as the biggest fun part like mario kart is online pvp

    • +1

I think the subscription is pretty reasonable at $30 AUD per year. That amounts to $2.5 per month, and even less if you create a family plan. Other games I've played charges ridiculous $10-20 per month.

Sad, this game is AMAZING, and yet Fortnite gets all the praise. HOW? Price of entry.

    • Fortnite is free so people tend to give it a try alot more just because of that unfortunately

  • People that have this game whats the playerbase like in Oz?

    • Never had any real issues. The salmon run mode is always very quick to start a match since you’re only paired with three other players.

Turf war and ranked battle can take a bit longer, but generally you don’t spend too long waiting to get into it. Turf war rounds are only 3 minutes long though, so at times it does feel a bit like you’re spending more time in the lobby than you are playing, but that’s more a comment on the match length than the wait time.

      • Do you play much? We can team up for Salmon Run if you like!

  • Very good price. One of the best games on the Switch. Too bad everyone will probably jump to Smash Brothers after today!
