Use for Glass Coffee Jars & Other Things

Just wondering here if anyone can think of ways to reuse glass coffee jars or other products such as Berocca capsule tubes which I have over a hundred of. I really hate throwing out glass coffee jars, I think it's a waste. Egg cartons, milk bottles, I reuse. Use my plastic containers to store opened food in the fridge etc., and take my lunch to work. Bottles I use to put dishwashing and washing liquid in and fill with water.

Do any of you know about “life hacks” in reusing some of these items?

  • Google is your friend for these.

I searched for 'berocca tube recycle' and there were numerous results. While some listed alternate uses, an important one was that the tubes can be recycled (but probably not the lids - not sure on that). Hoarding 100+ isn't helping anyone.

We re-use egg cartons at the local produce market (but they recycle).

Glass jars can be useful for picnics (salad dressing, milk, etc.), and for storing small things, but they recycle.

    • Upcycling is better than recycling, especially given that our recycling isn’t actually even being recycled.

      • Fully agree, that is why I provided a couple of re-use options before the recycle option.
But having 100+ berocca tubes laying about the house is pointless (except for your suggestion below).

  • Preserving fruit and jams is a common use. Makes sense during blackberry season.

    • Beware of blackberries collected from properties that aren't yours (side of road, public parks, etc.) or even on yours that are growing on the fenceline of neighbouring properties…

You just might have a lovely jam with a hint of glyphosate, which I believe is slightly bitter.

Good advice. Mine have been 100% certified noxious weed neglected, thankfully.

  • facebook market place/ gumtree - people are after free ones for what ever reason.

  • Glass jars for pantry storage and berocca tubes are great for storing doobies.

  • Glass coffee jars are in demand for wedding centrepieces (they get dressed up with lace and hessian and hold flowers). You can sell them for $1 or more each.
