Amazon.com.au - Order Cancelled without Notification

So on the 23rd November I ordered Mario + Rabbids on switch from Amazon.com.au as a gift for my Nephew.

It hadn't arrived yet so this morning I went into my orders to track it and see how far away it was. Clicked the link on my email confirmation and "Page could not be found". Flicked through my orders and it wasn't there? Flicked through my archived orders, not there? Flicked through cancelled orders, not there either?

So I got onto Live Chat with their Indian call centre and was told that the system automatically cancels orders if they run out of stock or don't have the stock without notification. They will just remove items from any of your orders without any notification or history, they will just disappear. I explained how ludicrous this was and he said the item is still listed as available in the store but if I ordered it today the same thing would happen in a week, they would delete it from my order without notifying me.

Crazy, a week ago I thought this store was awesome, now I don't have enough faith to use it to buy anything.

So buy a different game. Hardlly a “horror story”.

Don't know about you but I pissed my pants several times reading that post. Will probably have nightmares for years to come.

      • Yep. It’s a tad over dramatic.

        • Yep, was a little dramatic, i was triggered :)

It is extremely concerning though that an item you order and pay for disappears from their system entirely with no notice. If not for my own chasing up i would have been out of pocket and without an item i purchased. It's not about the game, more the trust in the store. I can;t use them again if i have to closely monitor every purchase i make with them to make sure they don't delete every record of it.

But perhaps i won't scream Murder next time i get triggered either !!! :)

    Shut the front door!

Mods, can we get a warning in the title?
    Scared the pants off me.

"Horror movie right there on my smartphone"

    Rip Shirley Strachan

    • Shockin' me right out of my brain

"mildly inconvenienced" is the term you are looking for.

  • I'm just here for the comments.

Where's the "Michael Jackson eating pop corn" GIF when you need it.

    • not available atm

    Horror, grow up.

  • I've never had this happen. If Amazon can't fulfill an order they always notify you and it should always appear in your order history. You'd also have an order confirmation in your email.

Are you sure you didn't forget to complete the order process when you were too busy being racist towards call centre employees?

I had an order cancelled by them for some earmuffs where they removed all trace of the order from my account and didn't send any emails to advise.
I had part paid with some free Amazon credit I had but my cc hadn't had been charged yet. I emailed them to ask about the free credit and they responded with a apology, explained that the earmuffs had been discontinued and then gave me double the free credit.
      I was happy.

      • They offered me $10 credit and no explanation. Unacceptable but concerning to know that it has happened more than just once.

    • You can't say always anymore mate.

    • -1

No racism here mate, i asked to be put through to an Australian and he stated he was in India and couldn't.

    Warning: Horrible Clickbait title.

    • +3

      Poor clickbait effort IMO…

I would've preferred 'This ozbargainer bought Mario + Rabbids on switch from Amazon. You'll never guess what happened next'

      • Sorry mate, not looking to generate clickbait, was just a little triggered :)

    Riveting, 10/10 would read again

Overlooking the "Horror" description its still shit service. If you've ordered presents expecting them before Christmas and they're just canceled without notification that's just f***ed. I'd definitely be pissed.

Poor topic title but terrible service none the less. Deleting an order without notification to the customer is ludicrous.
It's pretty clear that you can't rely on Amazon for the essentials.

  • +2

Check your junk mail, you prob got a email saying sorry amazon can't full fill your order.

    • Yep id say this.
When amazon US stuffed up a order it disappeared from my order history money put back on gift card etc I was like huh? Looked and I did get a email saying why it was canceled.

OP: Anyway I just had a look and can't see any version of that game sold by Amazon AU or even any fulfilled by Amazon so because no stock and no knowledge of ever getting anymore = order canceled.
Id rather them cancel it then have it pending for who knows how long forgetting all about it then getting charged.

Also unless you where charged for it and they wont refund it etc it's hardly a horror story. Store runs out of item doesn't cause the world to fall apart.

No emails mate, searched all folders and junk. Nothing ans it appears im not the only one it's happened too.
It's not so much the running out of items, that i can handle but three weeks after i order when i chase up all record of the order is deleted from the system and they still have my money and didnt have the basic courtesy to let me know until i called them ? That is concerning. The order image you'll see in the post below confirms it was ordered but it should now be in cancelled orders right ? Nope, its nowhere in my account. I can't trust them again.

Any deals on pants cleaning services?

  • OMG
surprised it was "amazon scammed me" title

  • +2

I'm sure there was a cancellation email. i had it before. Maybe OP was using a different email account and forgot which email she was using.

    • Nope, searched Junk, Inbox and the folders i have, nothing there and i don't delete any emails. Only have one email address which they seemed to communicate with me regularly on.

  • I have received emails for cancelled orders before. Not sure why you didn't get one. In any case, i'm sure the customer care rep would compensate you for the inconvenience with some free amazon credit if you ask nicely.

  • +1

Had exact same thing happen. Order disappears from your orders page. Absolutely BS that they pull this.

  • +5

I ordered the very same game on 23/11 as well, and received the following email to advise they can't get stock a few days ago on 07/12. Perhaps they did send you an email but you didn't notice it? Check your mailbox again.

Also, cancelled order should appear on the "Cancelled Orders" tab/menu. You can see an example of mine as per link below.

Yeah, first place i checked bud but nothing in my cancelled orders. Searched for all possible terms in my mailbox and junk folders and no email. I'm glad they did notify you but unfortunately i wasn't notified and only through my own chasing since it hadnt arrived did i raise the issue.

Letting you know 2 1/2 weeks later is a bit crap aswell, two weeks shy of XMAS.

      • Email and complain to Amazon CS, they messed up my fallout beta key and a couple other things, they said sorry, "I said why should I bither to check Amazon's prices if you can't deliver", they gave me $30 store credit. I for one love our drone delivering overlords.

  • i have a feeling that my order will be cancelled too

Placed on Saturday, December 1, 2018

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Gold (Nintendo Switch) $39.00

Sold by Amazon Commercial Services Pty Ltd

    • I hate to say it but yes, Amazon Commercial Services was the same seller, this from my transcript with them, how's this for useless;

10 December 2018 9:29:21 AM SIDDHANT (CSA) : Jay, I can see that the
order is showing only 1 left in stock, but I can say that even if you
place the order It won't fulfill because its out of stock.

Copy of my order confirmation below.

    • Since it's gold edition you might be ok, could just the original edition they've stopped producing, if the game's still selling they'll still be releasing the Gold edition. Might still cancel but you have a much better chance with gold than the original I'd guess.

LOL. Did make me chuckle reading all the responses. Ttile may have been a little dramatic :)
I didn't get a notification in junk mail, messages, cancelled orders e.t.c.
The only record of this transaction is the confirmation email of the order being processed as i had another item in the same order (which was delivered). They did not move it to cancelled, archived nor contact me via email or phone and they aknowleged that no contact was registered in their system.

Anyway, i had 17 different items on order from them for Xmas yet to be delivered and have cancelled every single one of them, even turned the delivery guy away this morning at my door. If they can cancel without telling me i can do the same :) !!!

17 disputed transactions that i will get refunded will cost Amazon AUD$55 a pop all for a game i ordered for $28.00.

    Copy of the confirmed order;

And now it is not in my Order History, Cancelled orders or archived orders.

Lol. Now my reply above seems way less extreme. You're a psycho dude.

  • just contact dept fair trading lodge a complaint if they cannot help they can advise and direct you to where you can get help

    • +1

      all that over a game?

  • I got to agree with OP.

You would expect some message as a minimum.

Amazon aint goin' anywhere with this attitude.
