No, Magnum is fully acceptable and well used for wine.
A flagon is only 1.1 litres.

    • +8

      Magnum is for icecream

    • +2

you had better call penfolds too and tell them theyre doing it wrong

      https://www.penfolds.com/en-au/wines/the-penfolds-collection…

    • +3

I love when know it all's get put in their place.

      • It seemed kind of amusing at the time. I live and learn.
I should have realised for a start that not many people here would remember flagons. They were popular once, but had an image problem.

    • +1

      No, Magnum is a P.I.

    Not on special in WA

Edit: I stand corrected. It is on special. Need to log in first to get the offer.

    • Damn I read this when first posted so didn’t bother as I’m in WA, just saw your edit now all gone!

      • Sorry Bargearse :( I edited my post just 5 mins after my initial comment.

        • All good Skinny, there’s always more deals ;)

  • 1.5L for $20? :/ are we sure it’s good?

    • Also how do you become a member?

      • +2

Go to the website and join My Dan Murphy. Personally, I just went to one of the stores and joined.

    • Good in both offer and taste sense. Each to its own though.
I personally prefer McLaren Vale wines, but make an exception for a few Barossa ones like CR :)

    • +3

can't go wrong with CR, and $20 for 2013 vintage is steal

    • +1

I would like to be greedy and say its bad…..but that would be a lie

    • +1

This is it's sale price, it's normally $44.99 per bottle, but you would know that if you read the deal description.

  • +1

thanks op, bought 4 at my local stock. Looks like running out soon

  • +1

    Thanks, just bought 3.
I paid $19 a few years ago for the 750mL and was very impressed.

    • Chris Ringland 750ml is on special too for $16 per bottle as member price (6 bottles limit per member per day). Full price is $24.99 per bottle otherwise.

      • +2

It's better to pay $3.88 more and get twice the volume

        • +1

True mate, hence why I added the Magnum deal and not 750ml. Though 750ml is more widely & easily available.

          • @aaruu: True, i can't find the 1.5L deal anywhere :(

  • +2

Perfect bought 2 for the "hard to buy Christmas gift family member"

    • Great gift idea, definitely, my purpose too. Bought a case, ready for pickup message received too, yay :)

  • None available in vic

    • +1

Not true mate, just checked VIC stores - Pakenham, Cranbourne East, Hogan's Corner (Werribee) available in ALL three as of now. Bound to be many more where available.

      • +1

Managed to find one in Thomastown.

        • Can't seem to order tho, says not avail at checkout

      • +1

yep, to the above list, add just about every regional vic store too

        as of now too,
looks like country pumpkins either dont drink red or just want something else

  • +1

    Purchased.
    Great gift ideas

  • +1

  • +1

  • +1

Chicks love a guy who says he buys Magnums.

    • +1

Only if it is the ice creams.

  • So you cant order online? Im in east melb and cant seem to order online at any store (even if in stock…)

    • why not ring the store?

      • +7

And talk to a human? shudders

        • +1

yeah, I know, the sacrifices we make to get a bargain.

  • +1

    Good find

  • How does the cashrewards calculate. $6.30 back for two bottles… but I paid like $40. So 7%?

    • Getting 7% on the retail value I believe. Interesting…makes like 15% cashback. Could be an error. I got correct cashback though, bummer.

      • Yeah I thought it was a bit high.

  • Looks like its gone…
    Anyone found it stocked anywhere??

    • No mate, still available in quite a few stores. I re-checked few VIC stores mentioned above too - Pakenham, Cranbourne East, Hogan's Corner (Werribee) available in ALL three even as of now. Bound to be more in various states. Convenience to get there might be a different story :P

  • Can't find any stock near me :(

    • Ah, feel for you mate. What's nearby for you? May be I can look up more options for ya.

      • +1

        North Ryde area

I just bought 4x750ml and 2x750ml of the Espania one

        • Ah, that's a busy area, no wonder.

          • +2

@aaruu: Everywhere in Sydney is busy :(

            • @Homr: very, cant find any in Sydney

              • @tweety96: Yeah guys, limited availability in NSW as compared to VIC, quick search showed me Shell Harbour (Wollongong), Macarthur Square (Campbelltown), East Richmond, Emu Plains in NSW still have it in stock, could be many more. May be call the customer service or a store, they can check in their system and advise which nearest store for you have it in stock.

            • @Homr: Yeah can't find any stock in the whole of sydney, from Penrith to Hornsby to Cronulla all the way down to Campbeltown.

              • @highdealer: Refer above, there is still hope :)

              • @highdealer: Why limit yourself to Sydney? Just teleport to Victoria Nature's Prophet

                • +1

@Homr: It's on CD, just went to Japan and TP back to get some cheap whisky.

                  • @highdealer: Should've bought a refresher when you were in Japan.

  • +1

    Thanks OP.

  • +1

  • +2

Bought from Cairns store, turned up and they gave me 2 x 750ml, only thing is they are 2016 bottles.

    • Awesomeness :)

    • +1

2016 is a great year. Enjoy

  • wow… didn't know this is good (and not cheap). I don't like red wine, so I gave it to my mum for her chinese cooking HUAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAH…

    • lol

    • +1

what kind of chinese cooking use red wine?

      • chicken soup, pork soup, stewed pork, pork minced roll wrapped in beancurd, hotpots. Red wine gives mroe fragrant to it.
