Expecting Good Deals for PC Parts Leading up to Christmas/Boxing Day?

Yes I know, I missed the boat with the Black Friday deals. I'm building my first PC and hoping that vendors usually have more sales for Christmas time?

This is part of Boxing Day Sales for 2018

    Maybe, I'm not sure.

eBay may provide best prices with the constant 10% off or possibly 25% which is unlikely but not unprecedented.

    • I hadn't considered eBay coupon codes actually. There's been a steady supply of those recently.

just grab the techfast prebuild + cheap ssd deals , and be done with it.

    • I've been keeping an eye on those but honestly, apart from the CPU and GPU, you'd really need to swap out the rest of the components for stuff that will last.

  • oh Amex Gods would you please grace us with another Umart card offer !!

Just walk into your nearest MSY store and ask the cashier for advice. Make sure to ask as many questions as you need and that there's a queue of people behind you. Their returns policy is second to none, so you'll be fine.

    • MSY works so much better if you order online for pickup. ;)

No, thanks. I'd prefer to avoid Big Brother sniffing my digital packets to determine if I'm purchasing PC parts to further my high-tech terrorist ambitions. It's a pity, but that's what you get with a Liblab system.

        • Well when you write things like that online… haha

Did that legislation come into immediate effect?

          • +1

@mortyestmorty: All our internet metadata is available to spy agencies and other interested parties. Australia is part of the five eyes countries that share with each other information on disobedient citizens. This is nothing new. The latest legislation that you might be thinking of is about encryption and how we can't allow bad hombres to hide their data.

            • @kahn: Can a person encrypt their HDD on PC? Or is that illegal now?

              • @UncommonName: You can do it as it's not illegal. From what I've read, VeraCrypt seems to be a good choice.

  • Did MSY even have a sale? I was hoping to pick up new gear for an AMD build!

Their "sale" is/was terrible. I'm doing an AMD build right now too and the best I could do on most of the parts recently was the 10% Cashback on Amazon w/ free shipping. Although Shopping Express did have a 2700x for $400 a few days ago. I think we missed the boat as all the best deals were for Black Friday.

      • Bugger! Shopping Express has x370 for $99+shipping https://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/asus-prime-x370-pro-a…

I'd hate to look what the sales were like back then, it will just make me feel bad haha

        • That's a good price. I think you have to update the bios before you plug in an AM4 chip into it though. Lol I paid $200 for the MSI Carbon B450 about a week ago…

I try not to read posts from Nov 2018 because I know I'll just feel bad too haha
