    Unless we know the chipset used, it is hard to judge how good this is.
    If you intend to use this with a traditional hard drive, it probably doesn't matter. But, if you want to put an SSD in it, then quite a number of chipsets won't support TRIM over USB.

    For example, I bought an Orico enclosure a while back and it had a chipset which supports TRIM. So when the next lot is on special (from the same seller), I thought I get a couple of them. Unfortunately, those used a far inferior chipset (much older chipset).

        VL711 - dunno whether it supports TRIM (cannot find info on the Web - need to run trimcheck to tell).
        VL715, VL716 do support TRIM (but they are USB 3.1 gen 2 / 10Gbps chipset). USB 3.1 gen 2 enclosures are more expensive.

        Most USB 3.1 gen 1 (USB 3.0) chipsets don't support TRIM. JMS578 is one exception (that one does).

    Works as advertised with an enclosure containing an m2 ssd inside itself, while a generic brand did not. Good stuff.
