If you go today should do

OW website doesn’t have these listed, just the WHH900NB

If you're willing to spend 2000 Qantas points you can get them for $339.90 delivered from the Qantas store.

However, if something goes wrong, it's often better to have a physical store to return them to.

      • Appreciate the heads up on this, grabbed a pair.

    • +1

The $359, yes (today), the $309 (Amex) no.

  • Does anyone know if these still have the issue of the previous model, where you can't noise cancel without being connected to something. Apparently they would auto power off after 5 mins, defeating the purpose of using them to sleep on a plane. Correct me if I'm wrong!

    • connect them to something and put the volume to 0

      • I think the connected device had to stay turned on though, which ends up draining the devices battery.

    • You can set the auto power timer with X3. Not sure about noise cancelling stopping by itself but if the power is not off I think it is ok?

      • Thanks, hopefully someone has tested it

    • +1

It's fixed. You can set it to never turn off now.

    • You can now choose not to turn off the headphone after 5 minutes.

    • You can use the app to configure the auto-off time to 5 mins, 30 mins, 1 hour, 3 hours or never.

    • Awesome, thanks for confirming guys

    • If you still have previous model, you can actually connect a 3.5mm cable. The another end does not need to connect to your phone or any device. This way headphone will think you are connected with something and would not turn off after 5 mins. Then you can just tuck the cable into your pocket or something and have a good sleep on plane.

    • Mine (M3) don't automatically turn off with nothing on. They even stay on when your Bluetooth device goes out of range.

The only time I've noticed them turn themselves off is when a 3.5mm cable has been plugged in, then is disconnected.

In the app, I have Do not turn off selected under Automatic Power Off.

The guy at Harvey Norman said he has had quite a few of the 1000 xm2 returned for repair with snapped head set cradle. Has Sony fixed this problem in the 1000 xm3? He said it's not covered by the warranty.

    • +9

The problem has been fixed. Even if it hadn't been, it's covered under the ACL, so don't worry about it.

Tip: never trust anything any store employee (particularly HN) says about your warranty and / or consumer rights.

      • +1

@nexus4 your tip makes it sound as if HN aren't very professional

        • +3

In all my dealings with HN staff I have always found them to be extremely knowledgeable about their products and techonology, and consistently able to guide you to the best product for your needs.

          /s

      • To be fair, sounds like he was trying to warn the OP (at a potential cost of a sale) to help them avoid a fight/headache later.

      • Interesting as the HN guy told me he would not cover the snapped cradle under ACL and so suggested the customer care add on

        • It's not up to him whether he covers it or not. He's legally required to give you a remedy if the snapped cradle came about due to a breach of the consumer guarantees (e.g. that the goods are of acceptable quality).

        • That is how they make their money of unsuspecting customers that believe everything they hear

Got one, with gst refund it will be 280

Has anyone found the cheapest international flight to qualify for TRS?
Alternatively, would it work to book a fully flexible ticket, check in and collect TRS and then cancel the flight for a full refund?

      • +13

Thats a lot of effort for $30

      • +1

The alternative is highly improbable as once you check-in and get to the TRS collection you've most likely passed immigration and you'd need a pretty good reason why you're not getting on that plane. Even then they would most likely deny you the full refund for the flight therefore negating that "saving" you're wanting to achieve.

      • Alternatively, would it work to book a fully flexible ticket

I didn't even know such a thing existed. If they do, you're paying a lot for the ticket.

I know you're only trolling, but the transport cost and time getting to the airport would negate any savings from TRS.

It's there as a bonus if you happen to be traveling already, not an incentive to travel.

          “new”dad = sleep deprived

      • Is your time worth negative dollars?

  • +3

Not cheap enough in my opinion. Only an OK deal when combined with the Amex cashback.

  • +1

I bought these for my trip to the States.
Other than pressure on my ears after wearing then more than ten hours, they were fantastic.
Good sound, great cancelling, quite comfortable so long as you didn't leave them on for the entire 17 hour flight.

  • +3

Purchased mine from HN on Dec 4 for $399. Called today to see if they would refund difference, response was that they have a 7 day price match policy. No good for me (9 days) but maybe useful for someone else.

    • oh, thanks for that info. I also bought mine 9 days ago but it's good to know for the future. Ahh well, I've had good use out of them in those nine days.

    • Trying to price match this price for a pair I bought for $380 last Friday. I got the AMEX offer so paid $330.

Would be sweet to bring this down to $309

  • -4

I'm new to Amex Cashback, may I ask how can I apply for it? There are lot of choices on the website. Thank you!

  • +3

IMO, the 3000 qantas ponits + $303 delivered was a better deal.

    • Ebay for 240 was the best :)

  • +2

If you registered Amex SONY (300 -50), you could ask for Price match @SONY

    • -1

what? No shop is going to price match amex cashback.

      • Sony just told me they do not price match. I asked and they just kept saying "we do not pricematch".

Good price, shame I didn't save the Harvey Norman one to my card. Hell no paying $449 at Sony after Amex.

        • They website do claim they have the policy. Talk to manager

          • @[Deactivated]: This was the online chat. Prolly some overseas person who has no idea.

      • You can ask to match $359 right. If you had amex sony offer 300-50. You also can get it $309

        • At least you're on the ball. Think everyone missed the point of price matching to HN then applying the Amex offer.

        • Wouldn't you rather give your money to Geriatric Gerry?

    • I can confirm Sony did price match. I didn't have the HN offer saved but luckily I had the Sony offer!

  • I can't +ve a base price of $359. $359 is crap.

    • This is the cheapest since black Friday. Don't see it going lower anytime soon.

    • Just lowball some dude selling it on Gumtree, you might get lucky and get it for $100

      • +1

I offered a guy for $225 , he was so offended he deleted the ad lol

        • LOL i get lowballed all the time there, I just ignore or delete the message. No point in taking it personally. Everyone wants a bargain, no harm in asking.

waiting for Surface head phones into market.

    • Review is that apart from excellent connectivity, there is not much more to the Surface headphones ( compared to others in price range ) and these took the cake

    • -1

Seeing how the surface is notorious for QC problems I would strongly recommend against getting a 1st gen ms product.
And their support is trash. If out of warranty you need to pay to be able to call their support line wtf.

    • -1

Why? Every review cites inferior audio, ANC, halved battery life, etc. Only reason you'd want these is if you dig the design or for some crazy reason, use Cortana.

  • +2

If anyone in SE Melb doesn't have the AMEX offer, I'm happy to help out.

Is this better than QC35 II?

    • +2

Search previous deals, this question has been asked 10,000 times

      • +1

I'll answer here, because now this will come up in search and make it harder for the next searcher..
Yes - these are better than the QC35 II according to most online comparison reviews (and my own testing).
I also believe the Sennheiser PXC 550 headphones are better than the QC35 II's as well.

        • +1

I think the consensus these sound better. Not better in comfort. So depends if you are planning tk use it soley on a plane which makes comfort a priority for long hours

    • Qc35 ii has rubbish audio quality..

  • where can I try the actual headphones in Sydney?

    • +2

      JB HiFi.

    • Or a Sony pop up store. There’s one in Chatswood Westfield for example.

  • +1

I just picked up a pair of these from The Good Guys. Your mileage will most definitely vary but I was able to snag them for an even $300. I mentioned that a 'mate' of mine got them for around $275 through commercial pricing so I was aware these have plenty of margin in them. He offered $300, I accepted. Results will vary by salesperson I suppose.

    • Not interested myself, but might help others if you don't mind uploading your receipt (blank out the serial / name)

    • Copy of receipt please?

    • please a receipt, i will pick one up after work today

  • None available for pick up near me.

  • Does anyone have this Amex Card promotion in Adelaide? I would love to buy you a cup of coffee. Your help is really appreciated!

  • +1 from me as the timing was right and I have that Amex credit to use.

  • I think it run out of stock? Cannot add to shopping cart anymore

Is Sony WH-1000XM3 better than Beats Studio3 Wireless?
    Cheers

  • HN website has crashed. It’s been OzBargained!

  • +2

FYI, I got a mate to order one for himself using my AMEX offer using C&C. He went to an other HN to check something else and the store told him that the discount doesnt apply to these headsets, whcih is BS. My card for charged $359 and he hasnt received the confirmation from HN for a pick up from the other store.

And then they pull the page. I did print it out before that.

    • +1

Yup no confirmation here either. Trust Gerry to pull this sh*t. What a joke of a company.

      • My mate just got his confirmation of order via email

    • I tried to price match via iMessage chat for a pair I bought last week from them for $380. No response at all.

They must be ignoring it since it seems they're not honouring this discount?

  • +1

Did anyone else have an issue of not receiving an invoice after purchasing. I manage to get one a few hours ago. AMEX sent me an email saying my offer is redeemed but I have not received any correspondence from HN

    • same issue with my mate's order via my amex card! check my comment above. Usually HN send invoice after you pick up the item, but you get a confirmation email right after the order

    • +1

I have not received anything too,

  • Still $359 at Amazon AU.

  • +2

Placed order around 12, got confirmation email from Harvey Norman just now

  • Maybe expired online, but just got myself these headphones at HN NSW Balgowlah. 4 boxes left on the shelf.
