  • is this the same as "Lenovo Tab 3"?

    • +1

not sure. just compare the specs if same then they are same

    • No. Tab3 has way better spec

    • i meant this one https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/tablets-and-2-in-1s/android-tab…

looks like this is the new/upgraded version

    • +8

dont get this, seriously everyone throws them back into the pond on gumtree and ebay afterwards for $50

    • +1

No its a differnt device, a family member bought the Tab 3 you mentioned and that came with Android lolipop, upgradable to Marshmellow but thats where the updates ended. This one comes with Android Nougat.

They both appear to have the same amount of RAM, CPU and GPU though, so I would say suggest staying away from this, when I used the Tab 3 those specs just arent enough in 2018 for a good experience and I doubt nougat would fix that.

  • +3

hmm my phone is 6.9" so 7 isnt really a tablet nowadays.

    • +3

then what would you call it?

      • +13

        phone without sim card….

        • +14

Or you have a tablet with a sim card.

        • I use a sipdroid in mine to make phone calls and got by without a phone (while at places with wifi) for a short while with the tab3 like that, was not too bad actually once you get used to carrying and holding it.

      • Phat phablet?

  • +4

    Phablets to be precise..

    • +1

This model doesn't have phone function.

      TB-7304F
      TB-7304I (3G)
      TB-7304X (4G-LTE)

  • +6

1gb ram so may need some patience. Good for the price though.

    • +11

$75 for 1GB of ram is not a good deal.

  • +25

This is…probably not worth your $75.

It has a crappy mediatek chip (A35 cores from 2015!) and 1gb of ram.

The screen will be fine though - Lenovo does good panels. However, don't expect to actually DO anything with the tablet…

How is it that the Nexus 7 2013 is still better than current tablets in the market.

      • +8

Because the Nexus 7 2013 was a flagship level spec'd device and this is a bottom of the barrel tablet.

        • Yes I am aware it was flagship, but it only cost 270 back in 2013, I'm sure you could pick up a Chinese brand tablet for a little more and get vastly better specs with 2gb of ram or more

          • +1

@DaTa: You are not comparing like for like.

            1) $270 Even unadjusted for half a decade of inflation is still 3.5 times $75.
            2) in 2013 flagship devices were much cheaper. I got my xperia z2 from the sony store for just over $600, so the Nexus 7 represented 40% of a flagship phone which is around $400-600 in 2018 terms
            3) the nexus 7 was a weapon in the early days of fighting for the tablet market. These days there is no one left fighting. It was intentionally aggressively priced.

A good midtier android tab will set you back $200 (china tab)-$300(lenovo or samsung). Any one of those will ve4y handily outperform the Nexus 7.

      • +2

My Nexus 7 seriously struggles just watching Youtube videos.

        • +1

Reset it. I've had mine since 2013 and it only just started giving me issues with the touch screen. Only the bottom two inches of the touch works. I can't figure out what's wrong. I've reset it about once every 18 months. Battery life is truly amazing.

          • @lordra: This is true. My Nexus 10 was absolutely garbage at even booting up. But a factory reset has done wonders for it. Only add back the apps you really need.

        • +2

Two of my friends have Nexus 7s and the lollipop update ruined them. I've read that rooting them will make it run like new, but I'm not experienced in that.

          • +1

@Wheatgrass: "Wheatgrass" I think your talking about the 2012 Model, and yes I have the same model that will barely update an app or search google since on lollipop. Will get around to rooting/installing rom one day lol.

        • My nexus 7 2013 has a whole host of minor bugs.

Gyroscope/Screen rotate wont work unless I restart the tablet and play with the rotation settings.
Case will sometimes put the tablet into sleep after 1 second of waking the tablet.
Charging port is loose so it I can only charge it with a wireless charger.
Screen becomes harder and harder to press. Solution reset the tablet.

          • @imcold: Had the rotation problem - solved as follows.

            • turn rotation off, and turn tablet off

            • turn over

            • place your thumbs just above the N and S, and press hard for about 10 seconds.

            • reboot

You may have to repeat from time to time.

Can't help with the rest, as mine is still working well.

      • Agree with this possibly the best bit of tech I've had
got it from this deal in 2014

Ozbargain tells me 4 years 1 month 25 days ago

        • I imagine you got the 2013 model, otherwise as above comments, unless you rolled back os/never updated from Android 4.2, or installed different rom.

  • +8

1024 x 600 screen resolution. This is made in 2008?

    • +5

iPhone xR has lower resolution 😄

    • For the price could you expect much higher? Lol

      • Do you consider AU$1,229 cheap?

I would suggest people buy a Note 9 save money and get better specs or buy S9 and save a lot more

        • +1

Sorry i meant to reply to the previous comment.

    • It was the spiritual successor to the Gameboy camera.

  • +1

This is an Android Go tablet and all Android Go tablets sell for less than $100 in emerging markets. Hence the reason the specs like RAM, storage and resolution are low. Google reduced the features in some of their apps to be less demanding on the storage as well.

7" is too big for a phone and too small for a tablet but just right for a (blank)

        7" diagonal ruler

    • Surely you must be loosebottom by now then?

    • Paper weight.

    • +1

Nonsense. I am reading this, and writing the response on a 7 inch tablet.

It is perfect for my purposes.

      • -1

I am writing this while I drive my semi-trailer 50 meters down the road to buy milk.

Just because you can do something doesn't mean it's ideal ;)

        • Surely a tablet's (or any items's) utility is in the eye of its user. In my case, my 7" Nexus 7 II is perfectly ideal.

    • +2

Young kids. I have one like this loaded up with 100s of episodes of peppa pig, thomas, etc. Perfect size for a 2yo and not too fragile. Way better than them using my iPhone or iPad. Invaluable in the car or on a plane.

    • Reading E-Books.

  • Thanks OP, orderd one. After shop back it will be only $66.82

$71.25 on Lenovo ebay store with one of the 5% off codes, although not worth it if you're using cashback.

    Qualcomm® 1.3GHz quad-code processor, MT8167D ?

    Nice try Lenovo.

  • Must be a slow tabket, even I don't expect to use it as a media player, how aboit compare to kindle for reading?

  • +1

I purchased one of these when Officeworks had them for $99, as an additional 'gaming' tablet. It's quite limited, and the screen isn't that good. Very slow, I'd avoid if you want to do anything with it.

  • +2

I have one of these, and it works fine for kids gaming, watching streaming services, using as a dedicated GPS using a service that allows downloading of maps, putting a bunch of music on it and bluetoothing to the car, and any of the thousands of projects you might want a cheap tablet for. People saying its useless are just unimaginative, it may not be a tablet you come home and pick up for general use but theres a heap of things you can do with a cheap full featured tablet like this.

    • +2

Agree. We bought for our 5yr old instead of a dedicated kids tablet or portable gaming device where you pay alot for the device and a heap for each game. Run an optimising app to free up the ram on this and they can do plenty. Kids at that age aren't fussed with the little lag and android has so many free options. Battery life is very good which is good for trips. For the price can't complain.

      • I'm not sure I agree. It's fine for you tube kids and some games, but touch screen is not super responsive. Some action oriented games oriented arnt playable IMHO.
One big downside is that flash based education apps like reading eggs is completly too slow for it. This limits its usage.

For me, Netflix (no HD) and YouTube are fine. Browsing web is too slow I feel. Kids use it for lego type of games and you tube kids.

It's cheap for what it is but id argue it's not good value and would not buy it again

        • If we had a choice again we prob would have gone the next tier up, like low end Samsung tablet, but unless on sale, couldn't justify the extra. Plus our view was if it lasted 12mths it did well!

Everyone's use and needs are different though :)

Folks! Pay a bit more and get a Lenovo P8 plus.

    Next!

    • +1

But that's way more than double the price, unless I've missed a deal?

      • Double of $75 dollars, not a few hundred dollars. Beside, it's double of performance with less than a hundred dollars. Better screen, memory, camera, battery, and with Sim card slot etc.

  • +1

dont forget 12% cashback on shopback

  • +1

Can anyone advise if these can play ABC iView app and YouTube without a fuss? Thanks

  • This looks like one of those products that falls under the "too cheap" category and ends up feeling like a chore to use

  • Looks like the consensus is that this isn't that usable. Is it possible to get a tablet for light streaming work under $100? If so what would folk suggest?

    • +1

You'd struggle to get good under $100 as Google are pushing Android Go for the budget

    • +1

The only thing that I can think of which fits this bill right now is the Teclast A10H which can be had for $104.99AUD delivered from Gearbest using the code QY1Y7T8XAIM0G.

It still has an older mediatek SoC but is a newer generation A53 core, and has 2gb of ram. The chipset is comparable to the Snapdragon 425 - which is not a powerhouse but is usable (My son uses a Lenovo Tab 4 10 and it runs very smoothly). The screen is just 1280 x 800 but it should be fine.

Under $100 is a fairly challenging market since the screen panel itself costs a large chunk of that. e.g. the A10S which is basically the A10H with a 1920 x 1200 screen and 32gb storage instead instead costs an additional $40, which is 40%!

  • -1

This is okay if money is really tight I guess. But these super low end tablets are a pain to use, can freeze and crash, run slowly, often have tinny sound and bad viewing angles and color.

  • Does this have android GO?

  • Finally I can replace my Nokia 3310
