Was looking for Japanese whisky as a Christmas present and came across this. Dan Murphy has it for around $117 if it is in stock. Good reviews. At the store, the price label showed original price of $110 plus but on scanning it came up as $93. Kanpai!

Pricematch online with Dans (call to match), pay with woolies 5% off gift cards and don’t forget cashrewards on the second bottle once they change the price down on the dans website

    • It's out of stock on it's website…

FYI: this is usually 4200 Yen or AUD$52 (Before Tax) in Japan
but there is limited stock this year so many stores in Japan is out of stock
where on amazon jp, price goes up to 7700 Yen (After tax) or AUD $94

Anyway, this is a good price if you don't travel to Japan frequently

Not worth it personally, none of the suntory NAS are any good in my opinion. Especially for 100 dollars, you could get a better scotch for two thirds of the price.

    • I would have to disagree but it's each to his own. I rather drink Japanese whiskeys it's personal preference. This is an extremely good price.

Agree - I’d grab a Glenfiddich 18 (Nicks normally have it for $99 + post). I am a huge Japanese whisky fan, just not the NAS ones…

      • Actually what I've swapped to given prices on Japanese stuff. Others should try it!

    • Dont know why you're getting negged. Agree 100%. Walk into Nicks I reckon I could find 15 whiskies better for the same price or cheaper.

    • God price for this but I do agree with you.

    • I agree with you on that point. Yes Japanese whiskeys are very good, but this particular NAS is overpriced by a good $20. It is just riding off the back when they had there 12 and 15 years at this price point a few years ago. If you are after a really nice softer full flavoured scotch , try the Glenmorangie Nectar D'ior - it can be had for $82.00 at First Choice at the moment with their 20% off deal

  • I bought 2 bottles earlier this year. When I tried it, I was disappointed. It was not bad, it just wasnt $80 good.

    • IS it better than blue label?

      • Not by a LONG shot. I am a fan of johnny blue.

There was a special on Johnny green later for $80 after I got this Hakushu reserve. I enjoyed the green more than this.
Taste is subjective. Value is subjective. Price is objective.

I'm a big fan of my Japanese whiskeys. I just recently came back from Japan with a couple of bottles in my bag.
Having said that, the mark-up on this stuff is ridiculous. You're much better off with a bottle of Glenfiddich.

    • ^this. I came back in august with a few bottles of whiskey, including Fuji sanroku 50 which was ¥800 for 700ml at an Aeon supermarket -the colesworths of Japan. ¥800 = AU$10

      at Nicks - $90

      at Dans - $100

    • It's not the markup but much higher tax here. Almost no tax on it in Japan.
