Tommy Girl 100ml EDT for Women $29.99 (RRP $75) at Chemist Warehouse

100

So I walked down to the Chemist Warehouse today after I received a catalogue. Remember my previous post on the issey miyake intense deal about my experience of buying perfumes from them the last time? Today I wanted to see how good the Tommy Girl would be for $29.99.

Based on what I smelled out of the tester, I could attest that this perfume is 100% genuine and I've purchased one. I would still not buy anything that cost more than $50 there, but that's simply my personal opinion and YMMV. However, this thing is $29.99 and it's a no-brainer deal.

TG is a pleasing citrus-floral fragrance that most people would find inoffensive and likeable in general. The notes are synthetic to varying degrees, but this should not be a problem to the vast majority of people. Synthetics need not necessarily mean harsh, and I do not mind the synthetic notes in this perfume.

Please note that this is also a Luca Turin 5-star rated perfume (this simply means that it's good thing for those who are not perfume-nerds).

Given the price, this is a fantastic bargain and would make a good gift in my opinion.

I've purchased a few bottles I wasn't happy with in the past, but today's experience seemed excellent. That's in fact why I've posted this deal here, and I did state this: Based on what I smelled out of the tester, I could attest that this perfume is 100% genuine and I've purchased one.

  • yep.. have bought several bottles of Boss Bottled from them, it's been fine.

I bought one Burberry perfume from CW. The smell lasts only 10 mins

    • I bought one Burberry perfume from CW. The smell lasts only 10 mins

Sorry about that - I had a similar experience as well, but the Tommy Girl seems to be as good as the one I've imported and I recommend it at this price.

EDIT: Also, what perfume was that? Some perfumes are have absolutely horrible longevity, and that can't be ruled out without knowing the perfume in question. 10 minutes of longevity still sounds too bad (unless it's used just as an expression of frustration).

    • If you could tell me please which Burberry was it as i have ordered one recently Burberry London for men Eau de Toilette spray the brown check one present for someone. Thanks.

  • RRP In title is missing

  • is it long lasting?

    • It is long lasting for a citrus floral. I recommend it.

The problem is the CWs that are not in a shopping centre. They have massive windows and like to line the purfume against the window, therefore degrading the product as it sees loads of sunshine. So avoid those.

This. Chemicals (which is what perfumes are) are very sensitive to transport and storage conditions. Cw wouldn't sell fake stuff, but could be cheap due to being grey imports and being subject to poor storage conditions which can affect the longevity and the quality of the fragrance.

The quality could be dependent on the distribution centre and each individual store. In another words, ops store might smell right, but another store might smell average.

An interesting observation that makes sense.

Reminds me of my young, wild and free encounters.

  • God they still make this! This was the scent of choice when I was about 13.

    • Well if they still make Hammam Bouquet (your parents wouldn't have been born back when they started to make it)… :-)

if I buy a perfume from chemist warehouse online and then discover say ten days later that it was manufactured nearly 2.5 years ago, would they accept a return, if it were unopened?

Anyone have any experience with this ?
They do have a 7 day return policy, but at the eight day it does not really change the fact that it was made a long time ago

    • Its not illegal to sell old perfumes. Your return would be considered as a change of mind. If you want to be sure, don't be lazy, go instore to check the date yourself.

      • don't be lazy, go instore to check the date yourself.

It's not laziness. You can save a bit if you buy online. That is the whole point of shopping online isn't it?

Also local stores may not have stock.

        • There's pros and cons. Whether you want to save a bit or get the freshest product. Same thing with buying groceries from woolies online.

Same thing with buying groceries from woolies online.

I beg to differ; If I were buying eggs/ milk/ bread etc online, I would be reasonably confident that they would not be too old. Also grocery products have their expiry on the product, and I would not have to check a batch code online

in any case I was hoping for someone with actual experience with returns in a condition similar to mine, rather than speculation :)
