I'd check out the 'ped egg' products on ebay for a few dollars. Seem to do the job.

    Baby foot.

    https://www.babyfoot.com.au/

It's called this because it removes so much skin you have to crawl like a baby.

A similar product is available in Chemists, called "Milky Feet".

Had a go at it once. Woke up the next morning, thought I was wearing socks.

Once you deal with the initial trauma/horror, the results were actually reasonable.

Machete but you might take more than you wanted. But it will end up as dead skin in the end.

    • Then you'll want to get rid of the dead skin on your stub and it's a slippery slope from there.

I have found the most useful and value for money tool is this:
    https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/66116/scholl-instant…
A one-off cost and lasts for years. Use only on soaked feet and then use this GENTLY. Don't be tempted to go overboard with any file/scraper type device. Remove hard skin in stages leaving time in between for feet to recover.

The rotating foot files work, however only remove very small amounts and take a lot of time. These are best for when you have removed most dead/hard skin and just want to keep feet smooth. A pumice does the same thing for a lot less money.

Best advice: minimise your use of thongs (and outside barefoot walking). I find thongs are the worst culprit for causing dead skin (and heel pain) in the first place.

A DIY soak and a scrub will suffice. Soak in an aromatic oil or antiseptic solution in warm water, scrub then moisturise.

    • Don't even need to put anything in the water… Just soak in hot water (like bath-hot) and then scrub with your hands. If you feel gross, just rub your feet together.

Pumice stone, or similar scraper if you've got a lot to get through. Might take a few sittings, but definitely works.

rip it with your teeth after warm shower session

  • I use a pumice stone after they have soaked in the bath for awhile

I usually just go outside, sit down on the concrete slab in my back yard and rub my feet against the concrete.

the concrete is rough enough so the abrasion removes dead skin.

plus because it's outside and you are doing something physical it counts as "exercise"

reward yourself and have a beer.

    plus it's free

gross, but still plus 1 for the exercise comment

    • You should be defence counsel for the poo jogger.

    • I used to use an electric sander! 😂

  • Maggot therapy, for the non ticklish.

  • It's kinda gross, but baby feet does work. You can google for images and prepare to cringe…

    Edit: Oops, already mentioned above

  • Milky Feet is good. I was shocked at how much skin comes off.

  • Lifetime of cracked painful sometimes bleeding feet with lots of excess skin is now all in the past.. I regularly use a product called ns8.. It really works! Better value in the pump pack from chemist warehouse

    https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/50304/ns-8-heel-balm…

  • A course of leeches…

Pumice stone works well and can be found on most beaches ore you can buy it from kmart for around $3 or chemist warehouse

    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/pumice-stone/1399306

Dip the pumice stone in warm water. You can also soak your feet in warm water for 10 minutes to soften them.
Gently move the stone in a circular or sideways motion around your foot to remove dead skin. …
Apply lotion or oil afterward to help soften your feet.
