Perfect for camping. Can use them with cheap USB lights.

    • Exactly the same reason I bought 2. Thanks OP.

  • How much is originally?

  • Suitable for 1X Recharge

    Bad batteries ???

    • +3

I think they mean you can get 1 full charge of your phone per 1 recharge of the USB charging device. My phone has a 3300mah battery so this wouldn't even fully charge it.

Generally these have a single 18650 in them and they can be replaced with a bit of work. The charge controller is a single board unit with both USB input and output soldered to the board.

      • +4

        2500mah at 3.7v
        = 1850mah at 5v
        Less ~10% efficiency losses
Probably would charge an iPhone 7/8 to 80%; XS and most other Android phones maybe 50%

I have one of these but use it for little USB powered devices - mini fan, LED light, arduinos

        • I think they would use a 3000mah cell? Also i doubt the voltage is boosted to a proper 5v more like 4.5v ish.

          • +1

@aussieprepper: Usually the mah rating refers to the capacity cell in the Powerbank ie 2500mah? Unless cygnett understate it

  • The cheap Laser and Audiosonic ones I have just sit around unused but this is still tempting because it is a respected brand for just $5.

    • +2

I bought a few Laser ones cheap two years ago, and respected brand or not, they've worked great and get used every couple of days.

      • Well said. I'm sure there are many respected ( read expensive ) powerbanks also sitting in draws sitting around lol.

        • +1

And now there are two more. Couldn't help myself.

      • Laser ones are the worst. The Target and Kmart brand power banks work alright (nothing special) but Xiaomi Mi Banks are an Ozbargainer's go to :D

        • +1

Agree. But even if you bought/were given a laser ( or any other no name brand that is working ), using that even for leaving in car glove box or a day bag is better than not having any and being caught out empty handed.

I would not recommend anyone buying a Laser over a Cynett or Xiaomi ( even Target or Kmart ), unless short of time and only cheap option in an emergency.

          • @ozhunter68:

Actually no, it's worse. Lasers don't keep charge for anymore than a few days, maybe a week tops. It's when you need it, know you've got it and think it has charge it becomes worse than having nothing.

Of course, you can charge it up every few days (with no indication that it is actually charged) but I am sure you'll miss a cycle eventually.

            • +1

@pennypincher98: Really, that bad. Is that just one you tried, or for all/most Laser powerbanks? If so I could not agree more, hinders rather than helping.

Have been tempted to get the Laser wireless powerbank few years ago when on sale to try on my old Nexus 4, but even then I read that Laser was not so good, but could not imagine ANY powerbank could be this bad unless faulty or after abuse.

Years ago I got a couple of those cheap $1-$3 ( delivered direct from China ) small powerbanks, and sure they did not hold much charge, but a few weeks at least.

              • @ozhunter68: That's for both the 2200mah and 4400mah wired power banks with the 3-in-1 cable. They still charge but they overcharge and then decline rapidly.

  • God dam I just bought that ravpower one for $15.

  • Does this work with the nintendo switch?

    • +1

It will probably give you an extra 50% battery life by maintaining the battery level while playing.

  • +1

They don't ship it? Can't pick up in Melbourne, "not available".

  • +1

I ordered 4.. managed to bypass the 2 limit some how in one order…

If I'm going to pick up I'm going to make it worth the travel.

  • -1

    Probably be Brodened ASAP.

    • +2

Probably - especially because Broden lives in Erina and it's in stock there :P

  • thanks OP bought 2 from the Coberg HN.

  • +3

These only give 1 charge but dayumn, mine has saved me in tight situations so many times. Especially when travelling - throwing this thing in your bag can be an absolute life saver.

  • anyone know what brand of 18650 they use, this might be a decent priced source

  • Ugh OOS almost everywhere in VIC

    • There were 2 left in Coburg which i got last night

  • ordered x1

  • +1

    Love late night deals. Thanks

  • some WA stores with stock - O'Connor, Armadale and Malaga

  • -1

ordered x1 from woodville store SA. Thanks OP.

Note: After my purchase store stock is now showing "Not Available". May be I ordered the last one.

  • Sadly none around me locally. Good deal if you can get it, which is surprising for HN.

  • Thanks for the tip OP!

    Ordered 2

  • Central Coast and Newcastle still seems to be in stock- Erina, Newcastle, Maitland, Lake Haven

Can't find any in Sydney though (only looked around North, Inner West and CBD)

    • Be quick as apparently "Broden" lurks/works/lives around Erina lol.

  • Has anyone seen the chat pop up at HN?

"Hello Ozbargainer - Need any advice, talk to a product expert now."

    • +1

They been doing it for years. All referring traffic from OzBargain triggers it.

  • Anyone know the brand / model of the 18650 cell inside?

  • i have this one. This battery can only charge 30% of my Note8.

  • -2

Thanks OP. Just bought 70. Got $50 back on the Amex deal!

  • No pickup at my regional nsw store :(

    2500? What's the point

    • +2

You're at the airport or train station. You need to call someone to come and pick you up but realise you're down to 3%. It's small enough to carry in a purse or a jacket pocket, whereas your 20000 mAh one probably isn't.

  • Anyone actually managed to pick theirs up? Called my store and they said its been backordered and will have to wait till the new year's for more stock..?

    • I got mine from woodville SA.

    • +1

Walked in to the Launceston store this arvo and grabbed two. Marked as $19.00 but scanned as $5. If they're trying to clear them out then they might have more luck if they actually put the right price on them.

      • So true. Sounds like the politics between their online store and bricks and mortar store.

Apparently Gerry outsources a different company/business for their online side, but obviously have to work closely together. That would explain their sometimes aggressive online pricing and non advertised Hardley Normal in store pricing.

      • The online price is up to $12 now.
